The Making: ABS-CBN releases first look on upcoming series “Marry Me, Marry You”

After months of simply hearing about it and taking a peek to its ongoing production through the photos and clips shared by its cast members on social media, ABS-CBN has finally given viewers a glimpse of what to look forward to the much-awaited teleserye “Marry Me, Marry You” headlined by Kapamilya newcomer Janine Gutierrez and talented actor Paulo Avelino.

As its way of capping off the month of June – which is traditionally the most popular month to marry – ABS-CBN Entertainment posted a 10-minute video posted on its official YouTube Channel on Wednesday, June 30, wherein the cast and directors of the series, who were dressed in formal wears, were introduced one-by-one.

First off were lead stars Janine and Paulo, who were cladded in wedding attires as the bride and groom Camille and Andrei. They were asked regarding their perception on marriage and teased each other about getting hitched.

They were followed by their veteran co-stars Cherry Pie Picache, Vina Morales, Sunshine Dizon, Edu Manzano, Teresa Loyzaga, Lito Pimentel, Joko Diaz, and Jett Pangan, who all disclosed what persuaded them to say yes to this project, as well as their experiences in working on it.

Its brilliant directors Dwein Baltazar and Jojo Saguin also imparted the premise of the show and what makes it special and truly worth-watching.

“Ang Marry You, Marry Me, sobra niyang relatable na series. Tungkol siya sa characters ni Janine na si Camille at saka ni Paulo na si Andrei na merong dalawang completely different na family at saka world na pagbabanggain at pagme-meetin natin,” Direk Dwein related.

Then she continued, “I wanted something na the audience can come home to, bukod sa relate to, kapag pagod sila or nadra-drain na sila sa life. Kapag pinanood na nila ‘yong show, may comfort silang mararamdaman dito. Parang mini sanctuary na pwede nilang maging takas.”

The young director went on to convey their goal to “present something very fresh” and grounded to reality with a hint of comedy and romance.

Direk Jojo, on the other hand, emphasized how this is going to be different from the other series we’ve seen by saying, “Hindi siya typical teleserye na marubdob. As much as possible, our goal is to be light pero nakakapagpaiyak ng tao. Hindi ‘yong may walling, matataas ‘yong mga boses, sigawan. Dito, ita-try natin na ibahin. Although kahit siya light, may kurot sa puso.”

She added how they aim to give inspiration and hope to the viewers through Marry Me, Marry You will impart, as it will not only tackle romantic love, but love among the family as well. Aside from its unique and refreshing narrative, the seasoned director also enumerated the other things that people should look forward to, namely Janine’s first-ever teleserye stint in a Kapamilya series, her team-up with Paulo, and other talented artists comprising its star-studded ensemble who will not just amaze us with their performances, but the roles they’re going to portray, too.

Jake Ejercito, Iana Aquino, Fino Herrera, EJ Jallorina, Meanne Espinosa, Adrian Lindayag, Keann Johnson, Angelica Lao, Luis Vera Perez, and Analain Salvador also shared their respective testimonies with regards to being part of the show.

Last, but definitely not the least, were Janine and Paulo who both expressed their delight on being part of this truly endearing and exciting new project.

“What made me say ‘yes’ to this project is basically the concept and the cast. I haven’t work with a lot of the cast, I haven’t worked with Janine in a teleserye and Ms. Sunshine. Exciting and interesting concept na sobrang iba rin sa mga ginawa kong teleserye dati,” Paulo shared. He also conveyed how thrilled he is to witness firsthand Janine’s Kapamilya teleserye debut.

Meanwhile, Janine enthused how much she’s been yearning to take part in a project like this.  “Ang tagal-tagal ko nang ipinagdarasal na magkaroon ng ganitong klaseng kuwento na sweet, heartfelt, romantic pero comedy at saka talagang naipapakita ‘yong nararanasan at hinahangad natin na mangyari sa buhay natin. And I’m so excited to be working with this cast na first time ko din talagang makakatrabaho, karamihan sa kanila. Ang saya-saya sa set. And also working for Dreamscape na talagang hinahangaan ko ‘yong mga teleserye nila dati pa.”

She further teased that viewers will surely be thrilled by the kilig scenes that they’re going to see in the series.
