In the past 14 years, we have surely witnessed how the It’s Showtime family has been so devoted in fulfilling their sworn duty of making the madlang people happy every noontime, Mondays to Saturdays.
But, as we all know, its gregarious hosts are not only exceptional when it comes to bringing good vibes and laughter to their beloved avid viewers, but they are also remarkable when it comes to serving fabulous and fierce looks either they’re on the noontime program or attending glitzy and glamorous affairs, such as the prestigious ABS-CBN Ball.
And as ardent Kapamilya fans have been anticipating to see how their favorite stars will sashay on the red carpet again on September 30, let’s revisit how the It’s Showtime fam graced its first two stagings in 2018 and 2019 in this Kapamilya Snaps feature!
Being the Unkabogable Star that she is, it is always expected that Vice would show up in show-stopping ensembles that would make everyone stunned by her glory.
In the inaugural edition of the Ball in 2018, she went all out in a long, wavy blonde wig that she adorned with a thorny crown and matched it to her shimmering black ensemble that boasted a long cape that bore details inspired by stained glass windows.
The following year, Vice once again made a majestic entrance as she channeled the “Carnival Queen” in her by showing up in a fancy gown with a heavily-embellished and appliqued bodice, a thigh-high slit at the center and a low-cut neckline, an enormous tulle puff sleeves, and a long, voluminous train. She punctuated her regal look with a gold crown atop her wavy blonde lob.
After taking a hiatus from the Ball for eight years, Anne marked her comeback in 2018 by putting on a sweetheart ebony ball gown that had elegant ruched skirt. Making her more extra dazzling was her sparkly and starry headpiece and a pair of diamond earrings. She also brought her mon amour Erwan Heusaff as her handsome escort.
And in 2019, she was once again hailed one of the “Best Dressed” during the charity gala as she paraded on the red carpet in a ‘50s-inspired Filipiniana gray custom gown, which really embodies the so-called “classic meets modern” look. It was made of organza fabric and feature a tiered skirt and a pair of oversized see-through butterfly sleeves. She punctuated her simple yet stylish look with a faux bob that she topped off with an eye-catching fascinator that has the same color as her frock.
There’s definitely no doubt that Vhong is indeed “Mr. Suave” as he served handsome looks during his ABS-CBN Ball stints. For his red-carpet debut in 2018, he arrived in a four-piece tuxedo that he matched with orange-tinted wayfarers and highlighted hair.
He switched up his style in 2019 by wearing a vibrant suit jacket, which colors resemble the iconic hues of a famous Proudly-Filipino fast-food chain, over a black button-down shirt with gold studs on the collar. He accentuated his look with two gold chain necklaces, a pair of quirky orange-tinted shades with gold frames, and a Philippine flag pin at the left collar of his coat.
It was only in 2019 when Jhong made his first appearance at the star-studded affair. He looked very respectable and debonair in a Barong Tagalog that featured a banig weave pattern at its lower half.
As we all know, attending the Ball is not new anymore to Kim, who’s been present since its predecessor, Star Magic Ball, was launched in 2007.
Thus, in 2018, she made heads turn in a lavish and intricate strapless black ball gown, which reportedly took 500 hours to make. It was embellished with multicolored Swarovski crystals, with hand-painted butterflies swarming on its voluminous skirt.
The following year, the Chinita Princess was indeed a vision in white in the backless bedazzled trumpet gown that had barong-inspired patterns and an exaggerated skirt. Wearing her hair into a chignon and a pair of sparkling dangling gold earrings truly made her extra regal.
In his initial appearances to the Ball, the OPM icon opted for the classic yet elegant looks. For his very first appearance in 2018 following his surprising transfer, Ogie was every inch dapper in a sleek black tuxedo. He then charmed us with his maginoo look in 2019, wherein he was spotted strutting down the red carpet in a textured Barong Tagalog.
It was also in 2019 when Karylle had her maiden appearance to the Ball, in which she stood out by sashaying in a chic platinum pantsuit with oversized sleeves that was actually part of a cloak. Her modern and somehow futuristic take on Filipiniana indeed wowed the spectators.
She matched it with silver accessories, a high ponytail, and strong makeup, making her appear a true femme fatale!
Sporting an all-black ensemble with dark red pocket square, Ryan really looked dashing and mysterious in the ABS-CBN Ball 2018. It’s Showtime’s very own oppa kept his look laidback by putting on a casual black shirt underneath his suit jacket and decorating it with a bronze brooch.
Contrary to his chosen color in the previous year, he then opted for an all-white tuxedo in 2019, which incorporated Barong Tagalog-inspired patterns from his coat down to his pants. He accentuated it with a shiny white bowtie and black tuxedo shoes.
She may have been in ABS-CBN for decades now, but it was already in 2018 when we got to see Amy grace the Ball. And for her only appearance to date, she was such as stunner in her simple yet sophisticated black custom shirt dress. Tyang Amy made her look more edgy by having the right side of her funky short coif shaved, which, according to her, was inspired by the hairstyle of Australian celebrity model Ruby Rose then.
Ate Girl Jackie also had her maiden appearance at the Ball in 2019, too! And she marked it by sashaying in a knee-length pink Modern Filipiniana with a beaded and appliqued bodice and butterfly sleeves and flowy skirt, which made her look dainty and youthful. She matched it with a pair of silver earrings and a pair of silver stilettos, and just let her long, sleek mane down.
Are you excited as us to see how our beloved It’s Showtime fam would grace this year’s much-awaited ABS-CBN Ball, happening on September 30?
