Kapamilya Snaps: Teleseryes shot in breathtaking locations around the world

Miss travelling and getting to see the outside world? We feel you! Months of being cooped up in our houses can make us long for the great outdoors, especially the places abroad that we’re dying to check off our bucket lists.

Although travelling outside the country is still far from our grasp, this Kapamilya Snaps video can definitely satisfy the wanderlust in us as we continue to stay safe in our homes. Feel as if you’re going around the world while we revisit the teleseryes that shot some of their scenes in the wonderful sceneries of foreign countries.

First stop — Bhutan. If you’re wondering what Kapamilya teleserye filmed here for a while, KathNiel fans will surely know. Princess and I, the first primetime serye of the love team Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla, used the setting of Bhutan as the location for the show’s fictional Kingdom of Yangdon. The structures and cultural atmosphere made it a fitting place for the royal story of Kathryn’s character Mikay, the long-lost princess of the kingdom.

This next serye also considered culture as a major factor for their story. My Binondo Girl, a teleserye about a Filipino-Chinese woman’s journey to appease her Chinese father, took its cast — Kim Chiu, Xian Lim, and Richard Yap — to the bustling cities of Hong Kong. Our favorite Kapamilyas from Chinese descent did not only get to bring a more realistic feel to the story, but they also got to visit a country close to their roots.

Sometimes, though, teleseryes just need a new scenery to bring more excitement to the story. Be Careful With My Heart, the teleserye that gave us the cutest couple Maya and Sir Chief (portrayed by Jodi Sta. Maria and Richard Yap), brought us all the way to Japan for the couple’s honeymoon. Fans got to join in the kilig moments of their trip as well as the wonderful sightseeing.

Beautiful sights are also in countries close to home. The 2008 serye Kahit Isang Saglit starring Jericho Rosales as Rocky, an agent on a mission in Malaysia chose to have scenes from the actual country because it was difficult to resist showing such authentic scenery. Another reason? The beautiful Malaysian actress, Carmen Soo, was going to be a lead on the show so it was hard to say no.

Not one but two Kapamilya teleseryes have visited the country right beside Malaysia — Singapore. It seems like this country is the fated meeting place for serye sweethearts. Got to Believe’s Chichay (Kathryn Bernardo) and Joaquin (Daniel Padilla) meet again in the small but busy country of Singapore after living separate lives. The same goes for the Love Thy Woman tandem Jia (Kim Chiu) and David (Xian Lim) who crossed paths because of work matters but definitely developed into something more.

Travel and food will always go hand in hand so the Pinoy adaptation of the Korean drama Only You made sure to feature that. Angel Locsin as Jillian and Diether Ocampo as Jonathan went all the way to South Korea to showcase the delicious food Jillian always dreamed of cooking. Don’t leave to get samgyeopsal just yet because we’re just halfway across the world.

In the country of Vietnam, the 2005 show Vietnam Rose starring Maricel Soriano, told the story of a daughter of a Vietnamese woman and a Filipino soldier. To accurately portray the culture and its scenes, it only seemed right that the cast and crew visit the country.

Kung Ako’y Iiwan Mo had a similar take on deciding to film in UAE, Dubai and Doha, Qatar. As it focuses on Sarah (Shaina Magdayao) and Paul’s (Jake Cuenca) life as OFWs, shooting in the place where real life OFWs strive made the show much more genuine in showing the joys and hardships they experience.

If you think we’ve already travelled far, well, you’re in for a longer ride. We have a number of teleseryes that have step foot in various countries in Europe. A Beautiful Affair, the serye that marked John Lloyd and Bea’s 10 years as an on-screen couple, shot scenes containing the amazing architecture in the city of Vienna.

The LizQuen comeback series Make It With You, on the other hand, brought us to Croatia as it began the story of Gabo (Enrique Gil), Billy (Liza Soberano), and their joint dream to build a bakery.

Lovers in Paris— you guessed it — was shot in Paris. How else could the show’s love triangle starring KC Concepcion, Piolo Pascual, and Zanjoe Marudo capture the essence of the story without the stunning Eiffel Tower in the background, right?

Aside from seeing the popular destinations and landmarks, A Love To Last shows us the flourishing nature and forests of Germany. Although Andeng (Bea Alonzo) and Anton (Ian Veneracion) were there for a short conference trip, the place gave such a relaxing feel that we’re wishing they took a vacation there instead.

Till I Met You made sure to show the most of what Greece had to offer, whether it be food, nature, or architecture. The life of Basti (James Reid), Iris (Nadine Lustre), and Ali (JC Santos) in Greece was a journey we had to witness because we were immediately immersed in the country’s culture.

Italy, the land of wine, was surely a location the Walang Hanggan cast including Coco Martin and Julia Montes had to come see at least once. As the story revolves around the wine business owners Guidottis and Montenegros, the show gave us a glimpse of the rich wine industry present in the regions of Italy.

Venice, one of the famous cities in Italy was also a destination of the LizQuen teleserye Dolce Amore. The beauty of the Floating City added an air of sweetness to the love story of Liza Sobrano and Enrique Gil’s character. That’s probably no surprise given that the title is an Italian phrase that directly translates to “sweet love”.

Another sweet love story took place in a beloved European country. Crazy For You, the romantic comedy about OFW worker Janice (Toni Gonzaga) and her Pinoy boss Wacky (Luis Manzano), featured a love made in the country of Spain. This first-ever TV series about OFWs gave us a fun tale of love and adventure.

We can’t forget, of course, the teleseryes that brought us closer to the great United States of America. On The Wings of Love, the show that started the JaDine fandom everywhere, was all about Clark (James Reid) and Leah’s (Nadine Lustre) struggles and life in the United States. Their fake to real love story was a perfect twist to their American dream.

The Story of Us, also set in America, focused on Tin’s (Kim Chiu) inspiring and touching efforts to become an American citizen and make a better life for her family.

Our Kapamilya stars and teleseryes have pretty much been all around the world, but we have yet to explore more and more places. What countries are you looking forward to seeing next?
