Kapamilya Snaps Baptismal Celebrations

Baptism is one of the most significant milestones in the life of a person, thus, parents make sure that it’s going to be memorable and well-prepared for – from the outfit that their baby would wear and the celebration after the religious ceremony, up to the choice of godparents that would serve as their guiding lights and auxiliary parents as their children go through life.

And in recent years, a number of proud celebrity parents shared the celebrations of their beloved kids’ Christening on social media through photos and clips. Revisit those momentous days in the lives of the celebrity families listed in this Kapamilya Snaps feature!

Iza Calzado and Ben Wintle

A few days before marking her first birthday, Iza and her husband Ben had their unica hija Deia Amihan baptized last January 13, alongside her cousin Sadie, the daughter of actress Bianca King and Ben’s brother Ralph through a joint celebration.

The Mars Ravelo’s Darna actress shared snaps from the ceremony and captioned one of her posts, “Our precious daughter, you are a blessing that has brought us great joy and love. We celebrate your baptism and pray that you will be guided and supported by God, your godparents and loved ones as you discover and fulfill your purpose in this world.”

Jessy Mendiola and Luis Manzano

Three months after giving birth to their daughter Isabella Rose in December 2022, Jessy and Luis hosted a floral-themed Christening for her in April 2023. Among the attendees were their families and closest friends, including the I Can See Your Voice host’s parents Edu Manzano and Vilma Santos-Recto and Rosie’s celebrity ninangs Nikki Gil and Cathy Gonzaga.

Jhong Hilario and Maia Azores

Their daughter Sarina was three months old when Jhong and his partner Maia Azores had her baptized in June 2021.

In a Facebook post, the It’s Showtime host expressed his gratitude to their kumares and kumpares as he shared several photos during the Christening, which was held at the Saint Alphonsus Mare de Liguori Parish in Makati City. He wrote, “Thank you to all the godparents of Sarina for your prayers and support on our child’s blessed day. We know you will be a source of guidance to our little princess through the years.”

Angelica Panganiban and Gregg Homan

Amila Sabine, the adorable firstborn of Angelica and husband Gregg, indeed had a star-studded “BEAN-yag” in February 2023. Among the famous personalities in attendance were Judy Ann Santos-Agoncillo, Cherry Pie Picache, Bela Padilla, Kim Chiu, John Prats and wife Isabel Oli, Director Andoy Ranay, and ABS-CBN TV Production and Star Magic Head Laurenti Dyogi. They were not simply guests as the couple also tapped them to become the godparents of Baby Bean.

Anne Curtis and Erwan Heussaff

As they marked the second birthday of their daughter Dahlia Amelie on March 2, 2022, Anne and Erwan decided that it was the perfect time for them to welcome her to the Christian world. The venue was decked with dainty pink flowers, including dahlias, of course.

The It’s Showtime mainstay shared a few lovely photos from the event and captioned it, “We pray that the Lord and His angels will always protect and guide her as she grows up. On t'aime tellement notre petite fleur.” (We love you so much our little flower).

Elisse Joson and McCoy de Leon

McLisse also had their Baby Felize McKenzie baptized in March 2022 when she was 10 months old. The intimate gathering was apparently attended by only a limited number of people, including one of Elisse’s best friends Sofia Andres and her daughter Zoe.

The Pira-Pirasong Paraiso actress uploaded a few snaps that captured some of the happy moments from the event and simply captioned them, “Our baby is baptized.”

Janella Salvador and Markus Paterson

They may already be separated, but Janella and Markus made sure to be both present in the Christening of their unico hijo Jude in October 2022, which coincided with his 2nd birthday celebration. It was an intimate event, which was attended by their respective families and several close friends, including the Mars Ravelo’s Darna star’s real-life aunt Maja Salvador.

Sofia Andres and Daniel Miranda

The young couple had their daughter Zoe christened back in June 2020 at the Santuario de San Antonio Parish in Makati City. It was held a few days after Sofia made the shocking revelation that they’re already parents.

Since it was in the midst of the pandemic, they only organized a small gathering attended by several loved ones and friends, including Sofia’s bestie Kathryn Bernardo, who’s also one of the godmothers.

Angeline Quinto and Nonrev Daquina

It was also in June 2022 when Baby Sylvio, the beloved son of Angeline with his non-showbiz fiancé Nonrev, was baptized. Among the celebrities present during the celebration were her celebrity friends, such as Erik Santos, Yeng Constantino, Dra. Vicki Belo and husband Hayden Kho, and Vice Ganda.

The Queen of Teleserye Theme Songs uploaded a few snaps on IG and captioned one of her posts, “Thank you to everyone who made Baby Sylvio's Christening possible! We appreciate all of our guests that celebrated with us, you have all been wonderful and made Baby Sylvio's celebration extra special.”

Dimples Romana and Boyet Ahmee

Another star-studded celebrity kid baptismal we’ve witnessed in recent years was of Baby Elio, the cuddly bunso of Dimples and her non-showbiz husband Boyet. Wittily dubbed “One na si Juan,” the fiesta-themed fete held in July 2023 was attended by guests who all wore Filipinianas. Among them are their family’s celebrity friends like Andrea Brillantes, Karina Bautista, and Belle Mariano.

JC de Vera and Rikkah Cruz

For the second time, JC and non-showbiz wife Rikkah organized a baptismal celebration in September 2023 to welcome their second child, Laura, to the Christian world. The Nag-aapoy na Damdamin actor shared a few snaps captured during the ceremony, which he captioned, “Cherishing every moment.”

Desiree del Valle and Boom Labrusca

The celebrity couple welcomed their son Alexander Sebastian to the Christian world in October 2022. Present in the ceremony were Direk Laurenti Dyogi, Tetchie Agabyani, and Desiree’s Ang Sa Iyo Ay Akin co-stars Maricel Soriano, Cheska Iñigo, Jenny Jamora, and Jef Gaitan, and director Avel Sunpongco.

The ceremony was followed by a big party for his first birthday, and then a smaller celebration the following day with just their family of three and the actress’ mom. They went to the Minor Basilica of Our Lady of Manaoag in Pangasinan and had a surprise dinner in Baguio City.

Kaye Abad and Paul Jake Castillo

Five months after he was born, Kaye and Paul Jake had their second son Iñigo baptized in February 2022 in Cebu. The actress shared only two photos from the ceremony, in which they were seen happily posing to the camera alongside their firstborn Pio Joaquin.

Melai Cantiveros and Jason Francisco

MelaSon had also held two baptisms in the past years for their two princesses. The couple welcomed their first daughter Mela to the Christian world in July 2014, with Angelica Panganiban as one of the godmothers.

Three years later, it was their second daughter, Stela, who had her christening in August 2017. Among the guests in attendance were her Magandang Buhay co-host Jolina Magdangal and her family and TV writer Darla Sauler.

Meryll Soriano and Joem Bascon

The The Iron Heart stars had their son Gideon baptized back in December 2021, almost a year after they revealed giving birth to him. It seemed to be an intimate celebration, with Meryll’s beloved aunt Maricel Soriano as one of the witnesses of her grandson’s milestone.

John Prats and Isabel Oli

Since they have three kids, John and Isabel experienced the joy of dedicating a child to God thrice. Their firstborn, Feather, was christened in June 2016, with the actor-director’s best friend Sam Milby as one of the ninongs.

Meanwhile, their son, Freedom, was baptized in March 2019 when he was four months old. Among the attendees were Dreamscape Entertainment Head Deo Endrinal, Patrick Garcia and his family, and John’s FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano co-actors Mark Lapid, Michael de Mesa, PJ Endrinal, and Marc Solis.

And in February 2021, it was their youngest child Forest who received the sacrament, which they celebrated along with John’s 38th birthday and Valentine’s Day. The couple seemingly kept it intimate and exclusive to their immediate family members and closest friends since it was still in the midst of the pandemic.

Aside from being a sacred ceremony, this also serves as an opportunity for family and friends to come together.
