On BGYO’s bucket list: acting project with KathNiel and LizQuen

BGYO relates their inspiring journey to reaching dreams and greater heights with a feel-good song “UP!” which is also their first original song ‘collab’ with sibling group BINI.

“Masaya po, kasi kami po ng BINI, matagal na po kaming magkakasama. So, lahat po ng mga hirap at pagsubok, lahat po kami nakasaksi n’un. Kaya sobrang sarap po sa feeling na magkaroon kami ng sarili naming kanta together,” said JL in this episode of Kapamilya Chat.

BGYO members JL, Gelo, Akira, Mikki, and Nate discussed that they worked on the song while preparing for the “ONE DREAM: The BINI & BGYO Concert'' in November last year. They had to fit the song production into their busy schedules.

Another trivia is that BGYO and BINI recorded the song apart since they had to limit the number of people in the studio. They rehearsed the song and dance steps at their own training grounds.

But the two groups are together for the music video that was shot during their trip to Dubai. BGYO said BINI remains the same bunch of passionate and hardworking performers. They also exude contagious energy, thus the music video shot turned into an adventure. “Nakakadala po ‘yung energy nila kaya super fun lang po during the shoot. Happy lang ‘yung music video,” said Akira.

Ang daming nangyari doon pero at the same time sobrang saya naming lahat.”

There was no script to follow. They were just having fun exploring the place, thus the music video resembles a travel vlog interspersed with a choreographed dance. Akira revealed that some clips were shot using only their camera phones.

The boys had fun looking back on that shoot. Gelo’s horseback-riding blooper gave them some good laughs. They said Gelo rode the horse in a wrong position, so he almost fell when the horse acted uncomfortable. Some clips in the video also show them enjoying rides in Dubai. Because of that, they discovered that Akira is scared of heights.

The P-Pop stars went on to share their favorite lines from the song. Explaining the verses, they related how dreams require hard work and unwavering passion, as JL put it, “Kahit nandoon ka na sa gusto mong marating, kailangan mo talaga mag-improve pa at mag-work hard.” The road may be full of obstacles but consider them your motivation to push harder; in Akira’s words, “Challenges are meant to be overcome.”

Akira recently made another dream come true by starring in his first lead role alongside Francine Diaz, KD Estrada, and Ashton Salvador in the digital series “Bola Bola.” The group performed “Mahal Na Kita,” which is part of the series’ soundtrack.

Akira’s teammates, of course, are also open to acting if given the chance. Asked their dream co-stars, JL mentioned Kathryn Bernardo. Gelo also wants to work with Kathryn and Daniel Padilla. Mikki and Nate couldn’t think of specific names, saying they’re open to working with anyone. Meanwhile, after working with Francine in Bola Bola,” Akira also wishes to act with KathNiel and LizQuen or Liza Soberano and Enrique Gil.
