In light of the premiere of the first-ever iWant digital series “Hoy Love You,” PUSH recently caught up with Pinoy Big Brother Otso alumni and fast-rising loveteam Karina Bautista and Aljon Mendoza to talk about their latest projects, their personal lives, and their on-and-off-screen relationship through PUSH Bets!

The fun and kilig interview commenced with the pair expressing how they’re enjoying the beginning of 2021 so far and how they hope for their personal and career growth, for more opportunities to come for the both of them, and for them to enjoy the new year to the fullest.

As she shocked us with her confession last year regarding her health condition, Karina imparted that she has already shifted to a healthy lifestyle after her surgery. Aljon, on the other hand, proudly shared that he’s been learning how to play the guitar and ukulele.

Moving on to the discussion of “Hoy Love You, “ the loveteam enthusiastically described its premise, their characters Charles and Cara, and how was it working with the cast ensemble, especially with its lead stars Roxanne Guinoo and Joross Gamboa.

“First time po kasi namin na magco-comedy na sitcom. Ito ‘yong first namin kaya sobrang nacha-challenge kami kasi although light siya, parang pa-minsan kasi mas mahirap maging natural na nakakatawa kaysa sa very dramatic. So kailangan mong isipan ng twist ‘yong mga character mo – paano kaya siya magiging light, paano siya magiging comedy, so pati ‘yong mga scenes – so napaisip kami do’n,” Karina related about their experience on their debut in the comedy genre.

Then she continued, “‘Yong atake naman namin ay siyempre gano’n pa rin, may sundot tayo ng mga pakilig. Pero ito sobrang cute niya lang kasi first time din naming na ‘yong roles ganito. Parang madalas, ako ‘yong naghahabol sa kanya sa lahat ng mga series at movies namin, pero dito parang bumaligtad naman tayo.”

When it comes to working alongside JoRox, the young loveteam revealed that they actually learned a lot from them and truly admires how consistent they are with how they project themselves on-cam and off-cam, as well as their humility and outgoingness.

“Nagsha-share sila kung paano sila nagsimula, ‘yong journey nila, and paano rin naging mahirap ‘yong mga pinagdaanan nila. Kung ano ‘yong natapos na nila [o] napagdaanan, ‘yon pa lang ‘yong nag-start pa lang kami. So ang dami naming nakukuhang tips, pero most especially siguro ang natandaan namin is to keep the respect and friendship kahit na anong mangyari,” Karina related.

 Aljon added, “And maging professional sa trabaho at binibigyan din nila kami ng tips in terms of acting talaga so parang napaka-wholesome ng pag-guide nila sa amin.”

They then answered the questions sent in by their fans prior to the interview – the biggest challenge they’ve encountered as a loveteam, their real relationship status, if there’s a chance for them to become a couple someday, their Christmas gift for each other, the sweetest thing they did for one another, what they aspire more between career growth as individuals or as a loveteam, how the pandemic affected their relationship, their tampuhan moments, their Valentine’s Day plans, and what important role they in each other’s lives aside from being a friend and a loveteam partner.
