Kapamilya stars share the fictional characters they relate to

Whether in TV shows or films or books, there's always one character that strongly resonates with us. This strong connection can be because of assumed similarity in terms of traits, values, and even physical appearance.

In this video, we asked Kapamilya stars which characters they see themselves in. From superheroes to princesses and local characters, we got all sorts of answers.

From sailing boats to climbing mountains, Moana has done all sorts of epic adventures. Her journey reflects her empowering grit, which Gela Atayde also has in real life. She said about Moana, “She’s someone who pushes for what she wants. No matter how tiring and taxing, she will really do anything she can just to get to where she wants.”

Majoy Apostol can relate to Mulan, while her Love Bites: “Honest Love” co-star Jomari Angeles asserted that he looks like Captain America.

Yukii Takahashi and Elsa from “Frozen” are alike when it comes to being aloof and having soft hearts. “I see myself as a strong woman who can face every struggle and every challenge on my way. But even if I’m sometimes, maybe cold, and I protect myself, I also have a soft spot, especially for the people I love,” explained the “FPJ’s Batang Quiapo” star.

Jay Gonzaga feels like he is Superman in some way, “Kahit anong challenges at kahit anong ibato sa’yo, fight lang habang buhay ka at habang may nagmamahal sa’yo. Just keep on fighting and ilaban mo lang ‘yan.” Jay’s Love Bites: “Boy Meets Man” co-actor Enzo Almario would agree that he is a Man of Steel indeed. By that, he meant that Jay has the perfect superhero body.

Meanwhile, Enzo can identify with Riley, the main character in the film “Inside Out,” the storyline of which encourages the healthy full spectrum of emotions, implying that people don’t need to be happy all the time. As Enzo puts it, “Lahat ng emotions dun – anger, disgust, happiness, and sadness – are all part of me na before hindi ko binibigyan ng light ‘yung iba kasi gusto ko happiness lang.  Ngayon, binibigyan ko na ng light.”

Superman could be JC Alcantara’s fictional alter-ego, too, “Kasi lahat pinagtatangool ko – pamilya ko at mga kaibigan ko.” Diego Loyzaga couldn’t think of a specific character he’s most like, but he thinks it’d be cool to live the life of Iron Man or Batman.

Give Elyson de Dios the magic carpet, for he’s the Aladdin of the human world, “I can see myself as street-smart din, ‘yata, siguro. He’s very kind and very optimistic.”

“I want to be part of that world,” smiled Jervi Li, aka KaladKaren, who feels with Ariel from “Little Mermaid’s” pursuit of dreams and feeling of wanting to belong. “I want to be part of that world – ‘yung pangarap kong maging isang artista, ‘yung mga bagay na ginagawa ko ngayon.”

When she was younger, Lyca Gairanod would pretend that she is Elsa from “Frozen,” playing with baby powder as ice and snow.

And while Disney princesses are common answers, Vivoree chose a local character, Melissa “Ysay” Baylon, whom she played in “He’s Into Her.”
