Kapamilya stars reveal dishes, snacks that make them happy aka their comfort food

Reaching out for comfort food is always a good idea especially when we are tired and stressed out (hello, emotional eating!) or even on days when we just feel like craving. But, did you know that comfort food is more than just a meal that hit the spot? Psychology says it’s often linked to a nostalgic memory, thus the comfort and happiness it brings. If that’s the case, what do you think these Kapamilya stars are reminded of when eating their ultimate comfort food?

AC Bonifacio tasted chicken tinola before but she fell more in love with the classic Pinoy dish when Zephanie Dimaranan taught her how to eat tinola with fish sauce or patis and calamansi. Now it has become her comfort food and their favorite lunch backstage ASAP Natin ‘To.

“Mainit na kanin tapos lalagyan ng hilaw na itlog at patis” won the heart of Rita Avila since she was a kid. Paulo Angeles’ comfort food is the always essential, sometimes controversial lugaw or rice porridge.

Ultimate Bida Star Ruth Paga lives in a place where the weather is cold. You guessed it right! She’s from Baguio City. Maybe that’s why she finds comfort and a little warmth from eating spicy food. She even calls herself sili obsessed, “Hindi ako nakakakain pag walang sili. Nasa-sad ako paranag, ‘Ay, walang sili.’”

If comfort food means filling and satisfying, then Kate Alejandrino thinks lasagna has it all. If you want to make Sheryn Regis happy, give her french fries. She’s not picky with flavors!

They say girls typically love sweets. Well, we’re not surprised that Barbie Imperial’s soul food is ice cream. On other days, she goes for something sour and salty and spicy – manggang hilaw with asin na may sili. To boost her mood, Heaven Peralejo grabs popcorn and yogurt.

And while girls love sweets, men need meat. Albie Casino picks burger and chicken wings (perfect for a beer night, right?)

Janine Gutierrez goes traditional with her ‘silog’ cravings. Her ultimate comfort food is “tuyo na may sinangag, kamatis at itlog na maalat.”

Did we make you crave, Kapamilya?
