Kapamilya Snaps: These celebrities hop on to the lato-lato craze!

In the recent months, we’ve surely witnessed the sudden rise in the popularity of lato-lato (a.k.a. “clackers” in English), as we see kids and kids-at-heart play it whenever and wherever.

It may not be a new toy as its origins can be traced back to the late 1960s and early 1970s, but social media have turned it into a major trend anew. While not everyone is a fan of it, there are others who delightfully hopped on to this craze, such as the celebrities in this Kapamilya Snaps feature who enthusiastically take on the fun lato-lato challenge!

Belle Mariano and Donny Pangilinan

Just when they thought that it was going to be a simple bag raid and chikahan with Darla Sauler when they recently appeared in her YouTube channel, DonBelle were put on the spot in playing lato-lato by the end of the interview. They were hesitant at first, but they eventually gave in to the request of the host and the staff who were watching them in the dressing room.

Vice Ganda

The It’s Showtime’s Unkabogable host also got hit by the lato-lato fever as her hairstylist Buern Rodriguez filmed her while playing inside her dressing room. She looked confident as she tried to make the two balls collide and give it a spin, with the adorable Batang Cute-pos watching her with sheer amusement, but jestingly realized in the end that it wasn’t clacking, or “walang tunog.”

Andrea Brillantes

Being able to finally find a good rhythm while trying to make her lato-lato spin instantly painted a big, bright smile onto the face of Andrea, not to mention that she did it while holding a cup of her favorite drink in one hand.

Moira Dela Torre

She may swoon us with her mellifluous voice and pierce our hearts with her hugot songs, but it seems that Moira can actually get fierce when she playing lato-lato. The singer-songwriter may have failed to make the two balls spin and slam together a number of times, but she still looked sweet and dainty.

Alexa Ilacad

The Pira-Pirasong Paraiso actress also tried her hand on the toy, with her loveteam partner KD Estrada being her supportive cheerleader. Alexa might not be successful in her goal, but they did well in making their ardent shippers kilig.

Vivoree Esclito

Vivoree wasn’t able to hold her gigil in her attempt to control the balls in her a recent guesting in Kapamilya Chat. She actually made it on her first try, but failed to keep it spinning.

Kaori Oinuma

While others get frustrated in playing lato-lato, it seems that Kaori is a natural as she’s able to easily create a rhythm with the two balls. Kaori wasn’t able to hide her amazement and delight when she realized what she had just done.

Angeline Quinto

The video of Angeline playing lato-lato indeed went viral as she didn’t only nail the game, but she was also able to flawlessly belt out her hit “At Ang Hirap.” We really stan a multi-talented idol, right?

Yassi Pressman

Fans of Yassi were surely amused when she shared on Instagram that she has officially joined the lato-lato trend after some quick lessons from her friend Chad Kinis, whose skills is already in on expert level.

Sharon Cuneta

As most of the personalities in this list are either Gen Zs or millennials, the Megastar proved that lato-lato is indeed for all ages. In a video posted by her first cousin Ciara Sotto taken during one of their recent get-togethers, she was caught trying her hand on this retro toy, along with other members of her maternal family, but failed.

Gail Banawis and Lian Dyogi

In their recent guesting in Kapamilya Chat, the up-and-rising artists had their lato-lato skills tested as they took on the musical game called the Sing the Situation With A Twist.” The two had to play the toy while singing songs which they thought could relate to the certain scenarios given by the host. They might not be able to get their lato-lato spinning, but they succeeded in the main game.

How about you, Kapamilya? Have you joined the lato-latoi trend, too?
