Despite knowing that they are just figments of writers’ creative and brilliant minds, we still couldn’t help but get kilig every time we witness couples in teleseryes share sweet, intimate, and heartwarming moments together on-screen.
Through the years, we’ve met countless TV pairings, but only a handful of them arguably left indelible marks in our hearts and minds as they made us fall deeply in love with their chemistry, bond, and love story.
Check out the 10 couples from Kapamilya dramas featured in this episode of Kapamilya Snaps whose unforgettable timeless romances can be considered ultimate #goals in real life.
Who would forget one of the greatest love stories we’ve ever seen on TV, not just once but twice? Iconic star-crossed lovers Angelo Buenavista and Yna Macaspac of the classic series Pangako Sa ‘Yo have indeed captivated multiple generations in the past years – in 2000 as portrayed by Jericho Rosales and Kristine Hermosa and in 2015 starring Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla. Amidst the stirring challenges that came their way – from the rivalry of their families up to possibility of them being siblings, they’re able to overcome everything.
A romance that started out in an accident, we witnessed how the egotistic, wealthy guy Xander (Enrique Gil) and the hardworking and determined daughter of a strawberry farmer Agnes (Liza Soberano) eventually got into terms with one another and became a couple in Forevermore. They may have to go on separate ways in the midpart of the narrative, but they were still able to find their way back to each other’s arms because of their undying love.
Aside from showing us the plight of overseas Filipino workers in the US, On The Wings Of Love also made us kilig with the unusual and magical journey of Leah (Nadine Lustre) and Clark (James Reid). From being mere strangers who were navigating through life as adults, they were later on compelled to live under one roof and pretend to be a married couple after their fake wedding in order to help Leah earn her green card. But as days, weeks, and months went by, they eventually fell in love for real and got hitched on live TV! This is perhaps fiction, but many of us were probably able to relate with their story both as individuals and as a couple.
Another couple whose love story was terribly affected by the hard reality of life were Tin (Kim Chiu) and Macoy (Xian Lim) of The Story Of Us, whose responsibilities as working adults took a toll on their once beautiful affair. As they initially agreed to put their love on hold to chase their respective aspirations, they later on realized how it is possible for them to follow their dreams and their hearts at the same time, so they rekindled their romance.
They may have come from completely opposite worlds, but the universe still found a way to make the paths of Pinang (Erich Gonzales) and Phil (Daniel Matsunaga) intertwine in the daytime drama Be My Lady. Aside from growing up in different countries and coming from different backgrounds, what made romance almost impossible to bloom between them was Pinang’s firm principle to not fall in love and her wrath against Phil for being the reason of their family’s hardships. But those gradually vanished as she got to know him better and they eventually became a couple.
Despite the huge differences in their ages and backgrounds, nothing and no one were able to get in the way of A Love To Last’s Andrea (Bea Alonzo) and Anton (Ian Veneracion) and Be Careful With My Heart’s Maya (Jodi Sta. Maria) and Richard (Richard Yap). These couples showed that everyone deserves a second chance in love, but it wouldn’t always be simple, considering that the two men already have children from their past marriages and have soared to greater heights in their careers. But amidst the terrible challenges that they had to go through, these pairs were still able to attain their well-deserved happy endings.
Another couple who made us believe in the magic of second chances were Patty (Angelica Panganiban) and Marlon (Zanjoe Marudo), whose once lovely romance turned sour because of their irreconcilable differences. However, they were forced to be reunited after their late friends bequeathed to them the responsibility of taking good care of their unico hijo, who’s also their godchild. Both of them tried to move on, but their feelings for each were much stronger, thus their romance rekindled eventually.
However, not all the best love stories are that of the living because some have attested to the marriage vow “till death do us part”. Just like Ngayon At Kailanman’s Inno (Joshua Garcia) and Eva (Julia Barretto) and Walang Hanggan’s Katerina (Julia Montes) and Daniel (Coco Martin), who died in the end of the said series. While their unforeseen deaths appalled the viewers, we were also delighted to see them reunited in the afterlife.
Which of these teleserye couples do you think have the best love story, Kapamilya?
