Apart from their swooning good looks, unmistakable talent in their chosen fields – may it be singing, dancing, acting, and/or hosting – and adorable personality, another thing that many of us probably admire about our favorite celebrities is their fabulous names.
However, just when we thought that their parents were too awesome to give them a name that’s really fit for celebrities like them, this feature reveals that it’s actually not the true story. As they entered the exciting and glitzy world of show business, they didn’t only have to adjust their whole lives and schedules, but their names as well in order to be easily recalled by the public.
Some are blessed enough to have birth names, particularly surnames, that really fit in the industry, thus it’s either minimal alterations were made or its abbreviated versions were used. Among them are Nash Aguas (Aeign Zackrey Nash Victoriano Aguas), Vin Abrenica (Avin Guiang Abrenica), JM de Guzman (Juan Miguel de Guzman), RK Bagatsing (Ramon Khino San Diego Bagatsing), James Reid (Robert James Reid), and Sam Milby (Samuel Lloyd Lacia Milby).
Meanwhile, some opted to go by their already catchy and easy-to-remember real-life nicknames or first names probably given by people who helped enter the industry, which would go well to their already fabulous surnames. Take for example Ion Perez (Benigno Dungo Perez), Gary Valenciano (Edgardo Jose Martin Santiago Valenciano), Enchong Dee (Ernest Lorenzo Velasquez Dee), Vhong Navarro (Ferdinand Hipolito Navarro), Bamboo (Francisco Gaudencio Lope Belardo Mañalac), Ogie Alcasid (Herminio Jose Lualhati Alcasid Jr), Arjo Atayde (Juan Carlos Atayde), Jake Cuenca (Juan Carlos Cuenca), McCoy De Leon (Marc Carlos Francis De Leon), Robi Domingo (Robert Marion Domingo), Ryan Bang (Bang Hyun-Sung ), Jhong Hilario (Virgilio Hilario), and Billy Crawford (William Ledesma Crawford).
Of course, there are also those whose screen names are completely different from their birth names, such as apl.de.ap (Allan Pineda Lindo), Vice Ganda (Jose Marie Viceral), Jerome Ponce (Joseph Jerome Gapido Porciuncula), Coco Martin (Rodel Pacheco Nacianceno), and Sid Lucero (Timothy Mark Pimentel Eigenmann).
So, whose real name surprised you the most?
