For true animal lovers, pets are definitely parts of the family. And just like family, they would make sure to provide everything they need – from food and shelter to unconditional love. And while some people prefer dogs, there are others who have the purr-fect pets in their beloved cats – just like the celebrities listed in this Kapamilya Snaps feature, who are certified cat persons!
Jodi Sta. Maria
The Unbreak My Heart star commenced 2023 in a delightful note indeed because aside from being able to spend the holidays with her family in Japan, she also received what seems to be the cutest surprise of her life as soon as they arrived here in the Philippines. That made headlines last January as many were touched by how the actress didn’t hesitate to take home the stray kitten, which she named “Naia” (pronounced as “na-ya”) she found at the NAIA Terminal 1 and adopted it.
Since then, her followers on social media have been asking for updates regarding Naia, to which Jodi graciously obliges. In one of her updates, she wrote, “A spoiled cat lives here. Naia feels like he rules the house.”
Angelica Panganiban
Before having Baby Bean, Angelica has her Scottish Fold cat Cindy as her “og bb.” It was a gift from her director-friend Andoy Ranay, which she named after her character in the 2018 Star Cinema flick “Ang Dalawang Mrs. Reyes.”
The actress has apparently fallen in love with the breed as she got herself another Scottish Fold that she named Laughter, and an affectionate feline named Dora. Her fiancé Gregg Homan is obviously fond with them, too, based on their social media posts.
Alexa Ilacad
Aside from having dogs, Alexa also takes good care of two cats. She owns a fluffy white Persian cat named Chill, which has been with her since 2019. And in 2021, she rescued a white puspin (or “pusang Pinoy”), which she named Doja, probably alluding to the famous American rapper.
The Pira-Pirasong Pangarap actress created IG accounts for both her cats, through which she fills their followers’ feeds with updates and adorable photos of them. Of course, her loveteam partner KD Estrada has met them already.
Vice Ganda
Just when we thought that Vice and her husband Ion Perez only have dogs, the couple actually takes care of a few felines in their abode, too. The Unkabogable Star has two cats named Naomi and Tyra, inspired perhaps by two famous supermodels. Whenever they’re not busy with work and just stay at home, the It’s Showtime hosts love to spend time and play with them.
Anne Curtis
Vice isn’t the only cat person in the It’s Showtime fam, but also her co-host and “sisterette” Anne. She has two Exotic Shorthairs named Mogwai and Pixie. Aside from their color and size, it seems that the two flat-faced felines differ in behavior, too. Anne describes Mogwai as “our grumpy old woman”, while Pixie is “our real-life female version of Garfield”.
Janella Salvador
Her Mars Ravelo’s Darna character Valentina may have encouraged her to have snakes as pet in order to help herself pull off the role well. But prior to it, she’s a furmom to a cuddly Exotic Shorthair named Bandit. Janella loves to take photos of them together, and jokingly captioned one of her posts, “It’s either he’s tired of taking photos with me or he’s still mad at me for cleaning his face.”
Jane de Leon
Last May, Jane introduced to her followers on IG her new baby, a dog named Ollie. But the Mars Ravelo’s Darna star actually has cats, too, and we got to meet them through her posts on social media and the first-ever vlog she uploaded on her YouTube channel in August 2022. She revealed that she actually has 20 cats, but she already gave away some of them, so there are only 14 left under her care.
It seems that all her cats have names starting with the letter “M”, such as Mowgli, Mia, Maxine, and Mallows.
Jane Oineza
Another proud cat-mom is Jane, who is obviously in love with her furbaby Cheshire. Whenever she’s at home, the Kapamilya actress is likely to be caught spending time with it, who loves to accompany her and lay down by her side whatever she does. And it seems that Chesire is also approved of RK Bagatsing to be her furdad as the Nag-aapoy na Damdamin actress shared a short clip of it sleeping comfortably above her beloved boyfriend’s head.
Neri Miranda
Apart from being a dutiful homemaker and an inspiring career woman, Neri is admired for being a dedicated furmom, too. She revealed in Facebook post that she actually has seven cats, one Siamese, one Exotic Shorthair, and 5 Persians. Inspired by her feline babies, she shared in the same post that she actually hopes to build a mini park for them behind their rest house, where most of her cats stay.
Ria Atayde
And lastly, Ria, who’s a doting furmom to two cats named Travis and Yoda. She previously had a Himalayan Kitty named Kaspian, named after the character in “The Chronicles of Narnia”, who sadly died exactly a year ago.
She posted a touching tribute to him by posting some of his adorable photos through the years and captioned it, “No words. Thank you for never making me feel alone the past 7 years. I love you so much Kaspian. I’ll miss you always.”
How about you, Kapamilya? Are you also a cat lover like these celebrities?
