Kapamilya Snaps: Multi-talented stars who shine both as actors and singers

We are well-aware that in order for a celebrity to continuously standout and stay relevant in the entertainment for a long time, one should not only have good looks and charming personality, but also have the talent. While it’s just fine to only have one, it’s a lot better if he/she is multifaceted.

And in the Kapamilya Network, there’s actually an abundance of artists who are not only skilled in acting, but have an impressive flair in singing and producing music as well! Find out who they are in this episode of Kapamilya Snaps!

Daniel Padilla

He wouldn’t be hailed as the King of Hearts for nothing, right? With his awesome ability to make girls fall in love with his singing and acting prowess, not to mention with his irresistible charm, Daniel is indeed rightful to the throne.

Apart from making us kilig with his teleserye and movie portrayals, he’s also able to do so through his hit songs, such as “Nasa ‘Yo Na Ang Lahat” and “Simpleng Tulad Mo”, which were both Himig Handog entries. He sang “Malay Ko” for the soundtrack of his blockbuster movie The Hows Of Us opposite his reel-to-real sweetheart Kathryn Bernardo.

Speaking of Kathryn, the Queen of Hearts has not only astounded us with her mesmerizing beauty and award-winning acting flair, but surprised us when she released her self-titled album in 2014 that includes her most popular song “You Don’t Know Me”. It wasn’t only her singing that was cute, but its music video as well, wherein she’s seen rocking various fashion looks.

Andrea Brillantes

In her one decade in showbiz, Andrea has indeed amazed us with how wonderfully charming and multi-faceted she is. Aside from her remarkable performances in television dramas and movies, the Kadenang Ginto star impressed us, too, with her singing talent. Her debut single “Happy To Be Me” was released in 2016 and just recently, she sang “Payapa” for The Gold Squad album.

Kyle Echarri

As we all know, Kyle’s ticket to the industry was by joining the Season 2 of The Voice Kids Philippines in 2015. He went on to become one of the hottest teen stars and most promising crooners of this generation who makes the hearts of young girls flutter with his every appearance. From singing his renditions of other artists’ hits, he now has his own original to perform, such as “I’m Serious”, which he wrote and even produced.

Sam Milby

Apart from roles, Sam also has a number of albums under his belt. The first one was a self-titled album released in 2006, just a year after his time as a housemate in the inaugural season of Pinoy Big Brother. While working for Ang Sa Iyo Ay Akin, he’s also able to record his latest song “Last Goodnight”, which is the OST of the iWantTFC original movie Love Lockdown.

Iñigo Pascual

He may have a superstar father, but Iñigo is able to step out of that shadow and create his own mark in the industry, especially as a singer. His debut single “Dahil Sa ‘Yo” is a total big hit as it soared to the top of various music charts and even won “Song of the Year” at the 30th Awit Awards.

The 23-year-old popstar didn’t stop there as he went on to release more songs and his first international solo single – “Options” – produced by Los Angeles City-based instrumentalist Bernard “HARV” Harvey in 2019. He was also among the artists featured in American media company 88rising’s online music festival called Asia Rising Forever last year.

Janella Salvador

Having parents who are both in the music industry, it didn’t come as a surprise that Janella is also a great singer. Before she rose to popularity via the well-loved daytime series Be Careful With My Heart, she represented the Philippines in a world trade fair in Seoul, South Korea and top-billed a school musical.

Throughout her eight year-career, the The Killer Bride actress has not only proven her versatility as an actress for she was also able to wow us with her singing talent. She was the voice behind the OSTs of the series and films she starred in, was tapped to become an interpreter for Himig Handog for four consecutive years, and was able to release her self-titled debut album.

Maris Racal

Even when she was still inside the Pinoy Big Brother house as one of the housemates of the All-In edition, she was already showing off her impressive vocals. And now, she’s turned out to become one of the most promising recording artists in the country.

From doing songs covers, she went on to release her original compositions, such as “Take It All Away”, “Tala”, “Ikaw Lang Sapat Na”, “Abot Langit” (a collaboration with Rico Blanco), and her latest single “Not For Me” in the past years. She also headlined two concerts, released one album, and was chosen to be the interpreter of the 2018 Himig Handog entry “Sugarol”.

Toni Gonzaga

She may be best known for her unparalleled hosting and acting chops, but Toni also has an extensive discography. Her first-ever, self-titled album was released in 2002, which was succeeded by Toni: You Complete in 2006 and six more records. Among her biggest hits are “We Belong”, “You Are The One” (with Sam Milby), “Catch Me I’m Falling”, “Can We Still Be Friends”, “I’ve Fallen For You”, “Awit Ni Ginny”, and “Starting Over Again”.

Apart from taking part in some movies and teleseryes through her songs, the Pinoy Big Brother host also lent her voice to Himig Handog entries “Kahit Na” and “Please Lang”, which both made it to the Top 5 of its 2013 and 2019 staging, respectively.

Alex Gonzaga

Just like her big sister, Alex also boasts an impressive vocal prowess that spawned to her debut album I Am Alex G and a slew of trendy songs.

From making us mushy with the LSS-inducing “Panaginip Lang”, which became the OST of her 2016 film “My Rebound Girl” with Joseph Marco, the actress-host proceeded on making us laugh and dance through the witty lyrics and groovy beats of her hits “Chambe”, “Tipints”, and “Amfee”. She also joined Himig Handog 2019 as the interpreter of the winning entry “Please Lang” alongside her Ate Toni.

Heaven Peralejo

She may be only starting with her music career, but Heaven has already proven how equally passionate and talented she is in acting and singing. After releasing her debut single “Nahulog Na Puso” last year, she went on to enthrall us with “Ikaw Pala”, which is one of the OSTs of the afternoon drama Bagong Umaga that she also stars in.

Maymay Entrata

From being the Big Winner of PBB Lucky Season 7, Maymay amazingly became one of the most sought-after actress, host, model, and singer of her generation.

As she ventured in the OPM scene, she released her first record in 2017 and received overwhelming support from fans. Her second album, #M0806, came out in 2019, which includes the emotional piece “Kakayanin Kaya”. Together with her fellow PBB Lucky Season 7 Big 4 and other Kapamilya artists, they provided the vocals for the 2017 ABS-CBN Summer Station ID “Ikaw Ang Sunshine Ko, Isang Pamilya Tayo”.

Edward Barber

Like his loveteam partner, Edward also explored the music industry – being #E0806 as his debut album. This includes songs that, according to him, he dedicates to Maymay as those talk about his feelings for her.

Kim Chiu

Aside from the being the Big Winner of the inaugural teen edition of PBB, among Kim’s early achievements as a housemate was being able to record the Tagalog version of the Chinese song “Peng You”. It was then included to her debut album Gwa Ai Di, which also features her hit “Crazy Love”.

Eight years after, the It’s Showtime host was able to release her second record, Chinita Princess, wherein Mr. Right” and “Wala Man Sa’yo Ang Lahat” are among the tracks. In 2017, Chinita Princess: Touch of Your Love” was released which includes “Okay Na Ako”. And in the midst of the pandemic, she went on to spread optimism and inspiration through her singles “Wag Kang Bumitaw” and “Bawal Lumabas”

Ian Veneracion

Throughout her decades-long career, Ian was able to prove that he’s indeed more than just a handsome face. Aside from being a versatile actor, he’s also an incredible musician, which he’s able to showcase in his portrayal of Anton in the 2017 primetime series A Love To Last, in his two major solo concerts in 2018 and 2019, and in the CinemaOne Originals animated musical dramedy “Paglisan.” Furthermore, he also composed and performed the song “We’re All Alone”.

Enrique Gil

With how he heats up the dancefloor every time he performs onstage, Enrique has been dubbed the King of the Gil”. It’s also the same title of his debut album released in 2013, which featured original songs like “Kaya Mo Ba ‘To” and “Mobe”.

Ivana Alawi

From being an actress and vlogger, Ivana also tried her hand at music. In 2020, she released the witty and relatable hugot song “Sana All” that talks about waiting for our aspired “forever”.

Nadine Lustre

Before she rose to fame, Nadine used to be one of the members of a girl group called Pop Girls. She eventually left to pursue acting, without setting aside her passion for singing. In the early years of her career, she released a number of records and singles, which were also used as OSTs of the teleseryes and flicks she starred in alongside on-and-off-screen partner James Reid.

From bubblegum pop and mainstream music, the On The Wings Of Love actress shifted to indie in the recent years as she became a recording artist of James’ own record label Careless Music. Her latest album, Wildest Dreams’ was released last year.

James Reid

Along with Nadine, James has been creating music since 2013, with the release of his self-titled album. However, he apparently has bigger plans for his music career as, like what we’ve mentioned, he officially opened his own recording label Careless Music in 2019 that has now an extensive roster of artists including his former on-and-off-screen partner Nadine.

Vice Ganda

Vice Ganda, as we all know, isn’t only admired for his flair in comedy, hosting, and acting, but for his unmistakable singing prowess as well. In his over one decade in showbiz, he’s able to stage a slew of sold-out concerts and release three studio albums that features his notable novelty hits “KaRaKaRaKa”, “Push Mo ‘Yan ‘Te”, “Whoops Kiri”, and “Wag Kang Pabebe”. Adding to this list is “Corona Ba-Bye Na”, which he released last year.

Furthermore, the Unkabogable Star was able to release heart-rending love songs, too, such as his latest single “Mahal Ako Ng Mahal Ko”, which is inspired his relationship with his boyfriend and fellow It’s Showtime mainstay Ion Perez.

These Kapamilya stars prove that being wonderfully talented and having a charming persona will really come a long way!
