They may have come from different paths and started in showbiz five years apart, but the universe found a way to make the lives of Enrique Gil and Liza Soberano intertwine. And from being two total strangers who got to share the screen for the first time eight years ago, they turned out to become among the biggest names and the hottest loveteams of their generation, not to mention one of the well-loved celebrity couples.
As we get to relive the sweet romance of their remarkable characters Tenten and Serena in Dolce Amore, which is currently being re-aired across ABS-CBN’s television platforms, let’s take a trip down memory lane and look back on their sweetest moments together on-and-off-screen in this episode of Kapamilya Snaps.
Enrique had been in the industry for five years already when he got to work for the first time with Liza in the 2013 Star Cinema flick “She’s The One,” which also starred Bea Alonzo and Dingdong Dantes. They may have played the roles of inseparable besties David and Gillian, but he revealed in their Magandang Buhay guesting in 2017 that they actually didn’t talk that much off-cam. Nonetheless, he was already attracted to her then.
They only got closer after that, specifically when he pranked her over the phone and when they were bestowed their first-ever teleserye together in 2014 – Forevermore – as per his request (in jest!) to Star Creatives chief operating officer Malou Santos.
Because of their solid chemistry as Agnes and Xander, they went on to become our favorite Kapamilya loveteams and topbilled a slew of TV and movie projects, namely, “Just The Way You Are” (2015), “Everyday I Love You” (2015), Dolce Amore (2016), “My Ex and Whys” (2017), Bagani (2018), “Alone/Together” (2019), and Make It With You (2020).
However, it’s not only through their teleserye portrayals that LizQuen is able to spread kilig vibes, but whenever they are their true selves and off-cam as well.
Prior to their Forevermore stint in 2014, they attended the Star Magic Ball together for the first time that same year and rocked the red carpet in twinning black ensembles. They went on to become each other’s constant arm candies in the next staging of the star-studded event in the following years.
It was only in 2019 when they officially confirmed their relationship during their guesting in Gandang Gabi Vice – thanks to host Vice Ganda and his toy lie detector test that compelled the couple to finally admit it.
After a year, Liza and Enrique have been more open as they enthusiastically shared further details about their romance, which was already five years that time, in their consecutive guestings in Magandang Buhay and Tonight With Boy Abunda.
When asked how their relationship had been faring so far, the 23-year-old actress wasn’t able to conceal her kilig.
“I think it was a pretty smooth ride. Of course, it’s normal sa isang couple na nagkakaroon ng misunderstandings sometimes, but we’re always able to sort things out and throughout the years, parang mas nakikilala pa naman ‘yong isa’t isa. We know what triggers each other to be upset or to be mad, so siyempre iiwasan mo na ‘yon. And at the same time, para kang may lifelong best friend. It’s just nice that you have someone there na laging makikinig sa’yo, someone that can understand you,” she told the momshie-hosts.
Meanwhile, in their TWBA dressing room exclusive interview with the King of Talk, the couple certainly made the butterflies in our stomachs aflutter when they recounted the day they became official and Liza divulging Enrique’s reason for choosing October 24, 2014.
Ever since their admission, LizQuen has been more seemingly carefree in sharing their photos and videos together on social media and on their respective YouTube channels. They gave us glimpses of their date nights and trips together, as well as their celebrations of special occasions, making us wish for them to be like this forever! Besides, they are also now partners in the alcohol and hand sanitizer business they put up. #CoupleGoals indeed, right?
