We are so used to seeing our favorite Kapamilya love teams meet and fall in love time and time again in their different teleseryes and movies. Each one sweeter than the last, but you know what really gives us those kilig moments? It’s getting to know more about their relationships behind the screen and the first question that we all want an answer to is how did they first meet.
Here’s a recap of how these sweet on-screen (and some off-screen) couples first met.
KathNiel (Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla)
Fate may be on the side of this charming love team turned real couple. Before working on any project together, Daniel and Kathryn actually crossed paths on It’s Showtime way back in 2010 for a guesting. Little do they know, about a year later they would officially meet in the auditions for the teen drama series Growing Up and be cast and paired up as Ella and Patrick in the show. It was on the set of Growing Up that they got a lot closer, primarily because of Daniel’s friendly banter that slowly caught Kathryn’s heart.
LizQuen (Liza Soberano and Enrique Gil)
Liza and Enrique made several fans of their love team when they starred in the romantic series, Forevermore in 2014, but this tandem had already met and spent a lot of time together a year before. In the 2013 Bea Alonzo and Dingdong Dantes movie, “She’s the One,” Liza and Enrique portrayed bestfriends on-screen. What many don’t know is that behind the scenes, Enrique was already crushing on Liza. Enrique even prank called Liza back then by pretending to order pizza which to this day, when they tell the story, makes Liza laugh.
KimXi (Kim Chiu and Xian Lim)
These two may have needed a lot of nudging when they were on the set of the Pinoy adaptation of the Korean rom-com, My Girl. Kim was starring in the show while Xian, who was just a guest, was there for a short cameo in the last episode. Both of them didn’t immediately interact since Xian was still shy to meet her while Kim was just asking around, curious to who Xian was. Eventually, when the two got to know each other, they immediately clicked and are now the cutest chinita and chinito couple.
LoiNie (Loisa Andalio and Ronnie Alonte)
Loisa and Ronnie’s relationship sparked on t’s Showtime where Loisa was part of the female dance group, GirlTrends, and Ronnie was a member of the male dance group, Hashtags. Although, that wasn’t where it all started because the two had met in a workshop sometime after Loisa’s stint in Pinoy Big Brother. When they worked together again in the noontime show, they would hang out a lot and with each other’s dance groups. How did they eventually get together? Well, we could say that Zeus Collins, Ronnie’s fellow dancer in Hashtags, had a big hand in making that happen.
MayWard (Maymay Entrata and Edward Barber)
Now this is a meet-cute we all got to see unfold on the big screen. Maymay and Edward met during Pinoy Big Brother Lucky Season 7 but it was after a few weeks into the show that they became close friends. It all started because of ー are you ready for this? ー washing towels. When Edward entered PBB, he could only speak in English and at one time, to Edward’s knowledge, it was only Maymay who could understand English, so as he was helping her wash the towels, he engaged in a conversation to get to know her better. That ordinary activity eventually led to an extraordinary friendship that fans always want to see more of.
SethDrea (Seth Fedelin and Andrea Brillantes)
The popular 2018 family drama Kadenang Ginto was the place where Andrea and Seth first met. Seth was still a newbie actor entering showbiz but, according to Andrea, he was already a natural at acting. After hours, Andrea would still help Seth with his lines or give him tips but what really made their relationship special was Seth’s constant teasing which Andrea found annoying but fun.
KyCine (Kyle Echarri and Francine Diaz)
This young love team proves that first impressions don’t last. When the two met on the set of Kadenang Ginto, Kyle’s first impression of Francine was shy but thought of her as really cute. Francine, on the other hand, found him “masungit” or snobbish. But those impressions faded fast as they got to be great friends that can poke fun at each other from time to time.
While we all await their future shows where they would meet and fall in love again, these real-life ones will always be the best of them all. They may not be as magical as the stories, but they are definitely special because it has led them to have endearing bonds with each other.
