Ang TV (1992-1997)
Ang TV made us chuckle starting from the time the cast would shout, “4:30 na! Ang TV na!” Throughout this comedy variety show, we got to see original cast members including Claudine Barretto, Angelica Panganiban, John Prats, and Jolina Magdangal do gags, tell jokes, and perform fun skits. Every so often, their signature “Nge!” adds an amusing punchline to every joke.
Due to the show's success, Ang TV 2 was launched to entertain a new generation of kids by recruiting a fresh new set of stars: Shaina Magdayao, Denise Laurel, JM de Guzman, and Arjo Atayde.
Tabing Ilog (1999-2003)
Of course, growing teens also had their fair share of challenges and woes in life. Tabing Ilog was everyone’s go-to teen drama back then. Young John Lloyd Cruz, Jodi Sta. Maria, Kaye Abad, Patrick Garcia, Paula Peralejo, Paolo Contis, Desiree del Valle, and Baron Geisler starred in the show as their characters that lived by the river talked about and resolved their issues in life.
Gimik (1996-1999)
A hit serye in the 90’s was Gimik for its relatable story of exploring one’s youth. It’s about 12 adolescents navigating and figuring out their lives before they become full-fledged adults. We went through a rollercoaster of tales and problems surrounding the characters of Judy Ann Santos, Rico Yan, Patrick Garcia, Marvin Agustin, and many more.
After a remarkable run, fans wanted more so a spin-off series G-mik was created but it now starred Camille Prats, Angelica Panganiban, John Prats, and Carlo Aquino. When 2010 came, the classic was once again revived as new stories of the youth arose. The new generation of young actors cast for the 2010 Gimik reboot were Daniel Padilla, Julia Montes, Jessy Mendiola, and Albie Casiño.
Berks (2002-2004)
Everyone has that solid group of friends, as solid as the one in Berks. This series showed the crazy fun and amazing loyalty friendship could offer. The barkada, or in short “Berks”, in the show were portrayed by Heart Evangelista, Angelica Panganiban, Carlo Aquino, Ketchup Eusebio, and John Prats.
Growing Up (2011-2012)
In the mid 2000s, teens were getting into new trends and experiences so they subscribed to a new teen series as well to see their lives also unfold on the TV screen. Growing Up was the hit youth-oriented drama series that gave refreshing stories about family, love, and life when you’re a teen.
It wasn’t just the story that compelled fans to love the show because they also came to stan the awesome group of characters played by Daniel Padilla, Kathryn Bernardo, Julia Montes, Diego Loyzaga, Kiray Celis, and EJ Jallorina. Plus, this was where the KathNiel love team began so Growing Up is memorable to many, many viewers.
Good Vibes (2011)
When young viewers craved something more lively and exciting, Good Vibes was there to satisfy them with its unique dance musical format. Enrique Gil and Sam Concepcion acted as the main characters who are half-brothers with opposing personalities. As their lives get entangled, they and their other cast members composed of Coleen Garcia, James Reid, Yen Santos, and Aaron Villaflor express their emotions with pop music and charming dance moves.
Luv U (2012-2016)
We all love to reminisce about young love and friendship because it’s just so carefree and fun. The situational comedy series Luv U focused on showing this side of growing up while the characters played by Nash Aguas, Miles Ocampo, Sharlene San Pedro, Kiray Celis, and Igi Boy Flores attended as classmates in Lamberto Uy Villarama University or “LUV U”.
Goin’ Bulilit (2005-2019)
Among all of these, Goin’ Bulilit may be the most unforgettable because it is the longest-running kids show after all. Though, viewers of any age enjoy this kiddie gag show since they witness young cute actors have fun discovering their acting skills while entertaining fans at the same time.
The show has also come to be known as the training ground or first big break for most child actors and actresses. Some of those talented artists are Kathryn Bernardo, Nash Aguas, Julia Montes, Miles Ocampo, Sharlene San Pedro, and Jane Oineza.
