Kapamilya Snaps: Chic, pretty tattoos of female stars and the meanings behind them

It is said that aside from sparkling jewelry, fabulous outfits, and on-fleek makeup, smile is one of the things that make a woman beautiful. However, there are others who bravely decided to put on indelible accessories that are permanently etched onto their bodies by having themselves inked with tattoos that whether or not have significant meanings in their lives.

Just like the female celebrities we listed in this Kapamilya Snaps feature who proudly flaunt their pretty and creative tatts!

Andrea Brillantes

If you’re currently contemplating to get yourself inked but prefer to have minimalist designs, then you may get inspos from Andrea. Andrea actually has a number of tattoos on different parts of her body, with the three dots on the side of her left wrist as the most prominent of them all.

She also has a “guard your heart” tattoo written in cursive of her left forearm and a rose drawn in red ink on her right wrist. The Kapamilya actress had the “angel number” 111 tattooed on her left back, too, which is said to be linked with confidence, new beginnings, motivation, and independence.

Janella Salvador

As her portrayal of the iconic Filipina villain Valentina in Mars Ravelo’s Darna indeed created a significant on her life and her career, Janella chose to honor it by having a snake tattoo on her left hip.

And last June, she proudly flexed her new ink, which is a thin red band around her left ring finger. She got it on the same tattoo shop where she had her first tatt.

Jane Oineza

We may not notice it in her teleserye appearances, but Jane actually has a collection of tatts. And we’re able to finally see it as she did an on-the-spot tattoo roulette during her most recent guesting in Kapamilya Chat, in which she also revealed the significance of each.

According to the Nag-aapoy Na Damdamin lead actress, her first tattoo is the script “she flies with her own wings” written in Latin emblazoned on the side of her right arm, which she got after working on the afternoon soap opera Precious Hearts Romances Presents: Araw Gabi in 2018. That apparently enkindled her fascination with tattoos, as she eventually got herself inked with sun and moon on both her wrists, the word “breathe” in all caps on the side of her left hand, the flower that signifies her birth month, and a cloud with a smiley behind her right ear. Of course, who forget the two dots on her pinky finger, which is a couple tattoo that she shares with her boyfriend RK Bagatsing.

And she’s not done yet as she expressed her interest on having an image of an alien as her next tattoo, but not until she’s completely sure about it.

Sue Ramirez

Apart from her ever-changing hairstyle and color, another thing that we find interesting about Sue is her pretty tattoos, which she proudly flexes in her photos. She has a little red rose on her left wrist, as well as a yellow sunflower and the words “dance”, “sail”, and “rise” that were taken from the lyrics of the of the OSTs of her 2018 film “Ang Babaeng Allergic Sa Wi-Fi”.

Besides, the The Iron Heart actress also has a blue eye located on the back of her right arm, a rainbow streak on her upper right chest, and a red “X” on her right ring finger.

Elisse Joson

Did you know that Elisse has a cute tattoo? Well, it is not surprising if you don’t since it is concealed and can only be seen whenever she wears a crop-top or a two-piece swimsuit.

The Pira-Pirasong Paraiso star has a minimalist rainbow behind a raincloud tattoo on her lower right chest, which, according to one of her Instagram posts, depicts “there’s always a rainbow after the rain.”

Loisa Andalio

You may not know it, but Loisa actually has a number of minimalist tattoos on her body. She has a rose on her right arm and flowing script tatts on her hand, arm, and torso.

But the most noticeable of all is the pair of tiny paw print inks on her left shoulder, which is a really perfect representation of the Pira-Pirasong Paraiso star’s being a certified doting furmom.

Gillian Vicencio

We definitely adore her awesome personality, more so her admirable portrayal of Tox in the well-loved KathNiel series 2 Good 2 Be True, which now has a spin-off, entitled ReTox: 2 Be Continued.

But you’ll probably love it once you find out that Gillian is actually a fan of tattoos. She has a couple of micro red inks on her right wrist and middle finger, as well as delicate spider lily and dandelion on her back, which she elegantly displayed during her trip to Cebu with her celebrity friends DJ Jhai Ho and Kaori Oinuma.

Nadine Lustre

Apparently, Nadine’s tattoos have become part of her aesthetic fashion as they make her fiercer and extra stunning, right? She actually has a lot, especially on her arms, which meanings she revealed in one her 2021 interviews.

The award-winning actress has a lotus flower, the Up Dharma Down’s “Tadhana” lyrics “nakayapak at nahihiwagaan,” a shaded crescent moon, a rose, and sparkles inked on her left arm. Her Japanese name “Nozomi,” which means “hope,” can be seen on her inner right arm, while there’s a little crawling vine on her right index finger. The newest additions are the dragon on her right shoulder and the tiny heart on one of her fingers, which she both had in 2022.

Lovi Poe

Getting inked on the rib part could be painful, but Lovi still chose to have the phrase “My Gravity” tattooed on the left side of her torso. In a previous interview, she divulged that it is dedicated to her late beloved father, “Da King of Philippine Movies” Fernando Poe Jr. It turned out to become one of her prettiest accessories as she proudly flaunts it in some of her photos, wherein she’s cladded in sexy outfits, such as in one of her character Mokang’s sultry performances in FPJ’s Batang Quiapo.

Anne Curtis

As she and her It’s Showtime co-hosts talked about tattoos in an episode, Anne probably surprised many when she bared one of her inks on TV. As she tags herself as a “Pursuer of Dreams” on her IG bio, she had the word “dream” inked in the shape of a thin cross on her right wrist, which she got during a trip to South Korea in 2017. In her return to the said country the following year, she got a dainty pink heart and sparkles tattoo on her left wrist.

Angelica Panganiban

Angelica has a few tattoos on her body. She got herself inked with a colored lily of the valley on her right wrist, which according to her, represents her as it is considered a flower “that only blooms in darkness”. To mark her 31st birthday in 2017, she had a letter “a” tattoo followed by two ellipses on her left wrist, as well as her birthdate written as “11.4.86” surrounded by a halo and a pair of angel wings that symbolize her name on her right ankle.

And in 2019, Angelica had matching tattoos with her “AngBeKi” besties Bela Padilla and Kim Chiu, which are single small dots on their left wrists.

Angeline Quinto

As we watch her perform on ASAP Natin ‘To and appear in other Kapamilya shows, one of the things that we usually notice about Angeline is the green star ink on her right wrist, which is truly visible everytime she holds the mic.

In a Kapamilya Chat interview, the Queen of Teleserye Theme Songs explained that it’s a meaningful symbol in her life as she once wished upon a star to be where she is at present, which happened, as we all know, after she won the reality talent search “Star Power” in 2010.

Jessy Mendiola

Being a certified beach babe that she is, Jessy got herself a dreamy blue mermaid tatt in 2018. However, she had a change of heart later that year and had it transformed into a whale shark and had a diver added right next to it after her unforgettable close encounter with the sea creature during a scuba diving adventure with husband Luis Manzano at Tubbataha Reefs Natural Park.

Jodi Sta. Maria

Just in case you do not know yet, Jodi actually has a tattoo on her lower left leg. In her Tonight With Boy Abunda interview in 2017, the Unbreak My Heart star divulged that it’s a phrase from Greek philosopher Socrates that states “Know Thyself”, which she got in 2010.

Which of these tattoos are you likely to have, Kapamilya?
