Being in the show business, celebrities sure live a life of glitz and glamour. This means wearing chic and luxurious outfits and makeups most of the time, having beautiful abodes and cars, going on expensive vacation trips, and dining in posh restaurants.
However, there are instances when our beloved stars miss the simple lives they once had prior fame, so they tend to relive the things they used to do, such as eating their favorite street foods! At the same time, there are some who did it in pursuit of trying out new things they had not done before.
And in episode of Kapamilya Snaps, check out who among our favorite celebrities we spotted munching on these “guilty-pleasure snacks” through their social media posts or vlogs, or through their appearances in TV or online shows!
Ivana Alawi
Aside from her captivating splendor and admirable attitude, another thing that we adore about the A Family Affair leading lady is her being down-to-earth, to which many of us could probably relate!
She may be born with a silver spoon in her mouth, but this never hindered Ivana from experiencing the simple things in life, such as consuming street foods. In one of her vlogs, she did a Pinoy street food mukbang video with her beloved family, wherein they feasted on favorite kwek-kwek, isaw, fishball, chicken feet, and a lot more!
As they went on their vacation trip to Spain early this year, the Alawi fam also tried a variety of snacks at a public market, which included sea urchin and chocolate-covered strawberries.
Vice Ganda
He may be one of the biggest stars in the country, it’s truly admirable how the Everybody Sing host has remained down-to-earth and is still fond of street foods!
In an episode of Gandang Gabi Vice in 2018, Vice was able to persuade his It’s Showtime co-host Anne Curtis try balut for the first time. And in another video, the Unkabogable host enjoyed ice scramble with Donny Pangilinan as he dared him and Jerome Ponce to take on on-the-road challenges during their “LOL Trip”.
Kathryn Bernardo
As much as she’s passionate in her craft, the 2 Good 2 Be True actress also loves to travel. In the recent years, she’s able to visit different countries, such as Netherlands, Japan, and Thailand, wherein she didn’t just marvel at its scenic places, but also tried different street foods.
However, even though she already tasted a variety of flavors, nothing still beats the kilig her favorite snack chicharong bulaklak brings her. She also felt the same when she ate special puto bumbong with cheese in her late-night food trip with boyfriend Daniel Padilla and their friends Joe Black and Bianca Yanga that she featured in one of her vlogs last year.
Angeline Quinto
She may always appear all glammed up every time she performs on ASAP Natin ‘To, but Angeline is actually “jologs” behind the camera. And she’s able to show it through her vlogs, wherein she sometimes goes on food trips to eat the street nummies she used to and would always enjoy.
In one of her recent vlogs, the Queen of Teleserye Theme Songs roamed around Quiapo, Manila to eat the famous palabok being offered by a roadside eatery. And prior to the pandemic in 2020, she had a chance to go back to the simple life she used to have when she was still a kid by being a street food vendor selling fishballs, palamig, ihaw-ihaw, balut, and more – for a day!
AC Bonifacio
Growing up in Canada, it’s arguably surprising that AC grew up loving street foods. And we’re able to see it in one of her vlogs, wherein she grabbed some barbecue, Korean fishcakes, and puto bumbong when she visited a food park in Cubao.
Prior to that, AC also got to experience being a street food vendor, and it wouldn’t be complete without her eating some squid balls and gulping a cup of palamig to cool off.
Melai Cantiveros
Another Kapamilya celebrity who’s proud of her humble beginnings is Magandang Buhay momshie-host Melai. She may be among the popular names in local showbiz at present, but she never forgets to buy barbecue from the ihawan in their neighborhood whenever she visits her husband Jason Francisco’s hometown in Mindoro.
Ryan Bang
He may be Korean, but there’s no doubt that Ryan has the heart of a Pinoy. In an episode of It’s Showtime in 2019, he gamely took on the challenge of eating balut when a Tawag ng Tanghalan contestant, who’s a balut vendor, brought his goods with him and his co-hosts dared him.
Chito Miranda
He may be already in his late 40s, but Chito can still rock n’ roll on stage whenever his band Parokya Ni Edgar has gigs. And what could be his secret? The Idol Philippines Season 2 judge revealed in a recent IG post that his go-to healthy snack is isaw. He wittingly captioned it, “Healthy snack muna tayo...tiis-tiis muna for better health.”
Scarlet Snow Belo
Scarlet delighted the viewers recently when she posted a video of her trying balut for the first time on Instagram. Helping her eat was her dad Hayden Kho, who removed the shell, put salt, and held the balut while she’s enjoying it.
Richard Gomez
He may be the current congressman of Ormoc City, but there’s no stopping the actor-turned-politician from eating street foods. In one of his recent vlogs, he was spotted taking bites of grilled saba with margarine and white sugar. Richard then went on to demonstrate his way of cooking chicken and pork isaw, adidas (or chicken feet), and kwek-kwek, as well as preparing their sauces.
The Gold Squad
In 2019, Kyle Echarri, Seth Fedelin, Francine Diaz, and Andrea Brillantes had an awesome night out at a food park for one of their Gold Squad videos. After buying supplies and food for their pets, the fab four feasted on a variety of snacks like isaw, cheese sticks, kwek-kwek, French fries, and fish balls.
What about you, Kapamilya? Are you also fond of street foods? What is your favorite?
