Riding bicycles has become even more popular, especially since the pandemic started because it has served as an alternative mode of transportation for many Filipinos. Many have also been engaged in cycling and have been doing it as part of their daily fitness routine. In this Kapamilya Snaps, let’s meet some of our Kapamilya celebrities who also practice a fit and healthy lifestyle through cycling.
Our Chinita Princess is one of many Kapamilya celebrities who are definitely our #FitnessGoals! Fans would always see her workout posts on her Instagram account. We even saw in one of her vlogs her usual workout routine despite her still very busy schedule which includes cardio exercise and 30 minutes for High-intensity Interval Training (HIIT). That in itself just shows how dedicated Kim is towards maintaining a fit lifestyle. And of course, Kim has always been into biking. In fact, the It’s Showtime host has already joined and completed several triathlons including two Ironman races: a 70.3 triathlon in 2017 and a 21-kilometer race in 2018. And one of her most memorable bike rides was in 2019 when she had a 51.8-kilometer ride.
Gerald Anderson has always been known as one of the sporty celebrities who really allot time in physical activities including playing basketball and parkour. This definitely helped the Init sa Magdamag star become more disciplined especially in terms of training and getting fit. Just like Kim, Gerald has also been active in competing in triathlons ever since 2015. In fact in 2018, he was able to get the fourth place in the 25th Subic Bay International Triathlon (SuBIT).
Hunk actor Jake Cuenca is another one on the list who is very disciplined when it comes to practicing a fit lifestyle. He and Gerald actually both competed in their first Ironman race in 2017 held in Subic. Moreover, both of them also played the characters of triathletes in the 2017 romance series Ikaw Lang Ang Iibigin. Even at home Jake still sees to it that he does physical activities and continues his workout. Biking has actually been a bonding activity for him and his girlfriend Kylie Verzosa.
Actor Matteo Guidicelli is one of the most dedicated triathletes who has always put serious efforts in doing fitness activities. In an interview with Multisport Philippines, Matteo shared that he was challenged to bike more because of his dad. It’s no surprise that he has also been active in participating in various triathlons in the country. His first ever triathlon was in Naga and he was motivated to compete after he received a bike from his dad.
Host and athlete Gretchen Ho has been known as one of the greatest collegiate volleyball players in the country. But she doesn’t only excel in the said sport as she also shows dedication in cycling which she has been advocating. In fact, last year, she started her “donate a bike, save a job” project that gave free bicycles to our fellow Filipinos who needed it. Other Kapamilya celebrities have also participated in the project and in December 2020, they were able to distribute 1000 bicycles for free.
Mr. Pure Energy Gary Valenciano has long been including cycling as a part of his healthy lifestyle. At 56, the OPM veteran successfully managed to travel from his place in Antipolo to Calatagan, Batangas with his electric mountain bike. He actually posted this ride in his YouTube channel, along with his many other rides. The ASAP Natin ‘To mainstay took to Instagram his appreciation for biking and said in the caption, “just wish I could be blessed with the chance to ride for many many more years to come.”
Kim Atienza has also been one of the most dedicated triathletes who is still active in participating in triathlons up until now. It was in 2012 when he decided to compete in triathlons and in 2016, he successfully finished the Ironman 70.3 in 5 hours and 53 minutes. Like Gary, Kuya Kim also has his YouTube channel, where he posted his bike rides including the one in Baguio. “Cycling is my passion and to be able to do it in Baguio is such a big blessing!” he said in his video description.
