They indeed never failed to make our hearts flutter in their every appearance on-screen, may it be in a series, television show, or movie, and even in social media. But more than their bewitching good looks and spellbinding charm that make us swoon, the Kapamilya heartthrobs in this list have also captivated us with their impeccable acting performances.
And as we celebrate Father’s Day this month, let us take a look back on their compelling portrayals of paternal roles in the teleseryes they starred in via this Kapamilya Snaps feature!
Ever since he transferred to the Kapamilya network a decade ago, we’ve already seen Paulo take on various characters. A loving dad in real life, we can say that playing as a father is where he could probably relate the most as he’s able to pull off his characters in that category very well.
Among his most notable daddy portrayals were in the 2018 afternoon soap opera Asintado, wherein his character Gael Del Mundo died even before his wife Ana (Julia Montes) gave birth, as well as in the 2020 primetime series Walang Hanggang Paalam, wherein we followed the journey of his character Emman Salvador in finding his abducted son.
While his character Tupe Salcedo in the controversial romance series Init Sa Magdamag unknowingly lost his child to Rita (Yam Concepcion) due to miscarriage, Gerald actually already became an on-screen dad in the previous teleseryes he starred in.
First was in Tayong Dalawa (2009), wherein his character JR Garcia had a kid with Kim Chiu’s Audrey King. The same went in their 2017 reunion project Ikaw Lang Ang Iibigin, wherein they once again became parents. He was also the father of the titular character in the 2015 fantasy kidserye Nathaniel and was paired with Shaina Magdayao.
JM de Guzman
His character Peterson Alvarez’s dream of having his own child with wife Rita (Yam Concepcion) in Init Sa Magdamag may not be coming true after a freak accident affected his ability to reproduce, but JM has already astounded us with his portrayal of a father in the 2011 soap opera Angelito: Ang Batang Ama, which was his breakthrough project.
As a lot of viewers were probably able to relate or were touched by the story of the 18-year-old titular character who was forced to assume the responsibility of being a father while he was still in high school, it was definitely a huge success that it spawned to a sequel, Angelito: Ang Bagong Yugto in 2012.
From being a matinee idol and promising actor, Jericho went on to become one of the most sought-after leading men in the local entertainment industry. And in the recent years, we’ve witnessed him take on father roles in the two series he starred in – The Legal Wife (2014) and Halik (2018).
In The Legal Wife, we probably hated his character Adrian de Villa for being an unfaithful husband to his wife Monica (Angel Locsin) to whom he had a son. However, our sympathies were on him in Halik as his character Lino Bartolome was the one being cheated on by his ambitious wife Jade (Yam Concepcion).
Ever since he was a kid, Nash has been a household name since he was among the pioneer batch of the long-running kiddie gag show Goin’ Bulilit. And from being an adorable young boy, we’ve witnessed him grow into becoming one of the most prodigious young actors of his generation.
And we’re able to witness his maturity by top-billing in the drama Bagito (2014). There, he played the role of Drew, a high school teen who unexpectedly impregnated a girl a bit older than him. Despite his young age, he accepted the huge responsibility only to find out later on that he’s not the biological father. However, he still fought to adopt the child.
Before getting into our nerves as Miguel Advincula in Huwag Kang Mangamba, RK first charmed us as with his first-ever take on a father role in the 2019 daytime series Nang Ngumiti Ang Langit. He portrayed Michael Villaluna, who got reunited with his daughter Mikmik (Sophia Reola) after he got imprisoned before his late partner Ella (Kaye Abad) gave birth.
Ever since his transfer to ABS-CBN around 15 years ago, we’ve already witnessed Jake portray a variety of roles that truly showed his versatility. And he’s able to further astound us with his dramatic prowess through the daddy roles he took on.
His became an on-screen dad for the first time via the 2012 afternoon soap opera Kung Ako’y Iiwan Mo, wherein his character Paul both had a kid each to his wife Sarah (Shaina Magdayao) and his mistress Mia (Bangs Garcia). It was succeeded by more paternal portrayals in Maria Mercedes (2014), Pasion De Amor (2015), and S (2019).
In his most recent afternoon series Love Thy Woman, Xian’s character David Chao had an affair with Jia (Kim Chiu), the half-sister of his wife Dana (Yam Concepcion), which gave birth to a son. That kid was stealthily adopted by Dana after their unborn child was killed after a horrible accident.
But prior to this, he already portrayed a dad in the primetime series Ina, Kapatid, Anak in 2012, wherein his and reel-to-real sweetheart Kim’s characters Liam and Celyn were seen welcoming their firstborn in the finale.
One of the most sought-after actors in the country, having kids is already no stranger to Sam. He first had a child in Precious Hearts Romances Presents Impostor in 2010 with Maja Salvador’s character. Then he became an antagonistic dad in the primetime melodrama Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala in 2013, and switched to a more loving and responsible dad in Doble Kara (2015).
And in his most recent teleserye Ang Sa Iyo Ay Akin, his character Gabriel Villarosa was a doting father to his and wife Ellice’s (Iza Calzado) daughter Hope (Kira Balinger), as well as to his son Jake (Grae Fernandez), who he had after a one-night stand with Marissa (Jodi Sta. Maria).
After his 4th Big Placer finish in Pinoy Big Brother Celebrity Edition 1, Zanjoe went on to have a prolific acting career that enabled him to show his brilliance and versatility. And among his remarkable portrayals were daddy roles, which we’re able to witness in the slew of teleseryes he starred in.
He is the father of the titular characters in Super Inggo (2006), in Annaliza (2013), and in My Dear Heart (2017), while he headlined Dream Dad (2014) and Tubig At Langis (2016) as a dad. As his character Baste was a bachelor who decided to adopt a young girl from an orphanage, the famous Natoy had two children – one with his wife Irene (Cristine Reyes) and the other one from his illicit affair with the antagonist Clara (Isabelle Daza).
Apart from enthralling us with his foray as an action star in the long-running primetime series FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano, Coco has also touched our hearts as a dramatic actor, especially when his now-iconic character Cardo Dalisay became a father. We all know that he and his late wife Alyana (Yassi Pressman) had a son they named Ricky Boy, who tragically died during a terror attack.
However, it was not his first take on daddy roles because his Ikaw Lamang (2014) character Samuel had kids with his leading lady Julia Montes’ Mona. Their one-night stand spawned to a son that forced them to get married.
As Paulo and Jericho are both awesome dads to their respective sons, we’re certain that the rest in this list are going to be great fathers in real life once their turns came someday. Happy Father’s Day!
