Kapamilya React: Zephanie looks back on most trending performances through the years

From being that young girl who used to dream of breaking into the local entertainment through her beautiful, Zephanie Dimaranan is now undeniably one of the most talented young performers of her generation.

And in the latest episode of ABS-CBN Entertainment’s Kapamilya React, we had her talk about her promising career and react on few of her trending television performances through the years.

First off was her stint in Tawag ng Tanghalan Season 2, wherein she impressed us with her rendition of “Patuloy Ang Pangarap” by Angeline Quinto, which she performed in hopes of dethroning then defending champion Janine Berdin, who eventually became the grand winner.

According to her, she chose that song because it depicted her journey back then, since it was already her second time joining a national competition, after trying her luck in The Voice Kids Philippines Season 2, wherein she got eliminated in the first week of the semifinals.

She laughed at how she used to sport full bangs then, and recalled how they weren’t able to speak to one another before their showdown that time despite being in the same dressing room since she was super shy then, while the Cebuana songstress wasn’t fluent with Tagalog yet during that time. But they just laugh that off now that they are good friends.

Zephanie then became all-smiles watching her Idol Philippines auditions in 2019 as she reminisced how nervous she was during that time as she felt that she’s already in the grand finals. It was also the time when she told herself that it was going to be the last time that she would join a singing contest.

But little we did know that she encountered a huge challenge during her stint in the reality show. Her voice suddenly changed after joining the second season of the The Voice Kids Philippines in 2015, making it difficult for her to belt out the songs that she used to sing. Thus, she tried her best to regain her biritera voice in Idol Philippines. It may have been difficult for her, but her whole Idol journey had helped her to make her voice better.

On the other hand, she wasn’t able to help herself from chuckling again as she remembered how she found it difficult to sing in the grand finals of Idol Philippines since she was already crying while performing her original piece “Pangarap Kong Pangarap Mo”, composed by record producer Jonathan Manalo.

When asked how she felt that after several auditions, she finally succeeded in taking home the title in the said singing contest, she said, “I know some of our Kapamilyas have seen me grow po talaga sa contests. Siguro ‘yong masasabi ko po talaga is of you really want it, if it’s really your dream, then never stop, never give up lalo na po kapag merong dumating na opportunity. Kasi ako po, may time na ayoko na talaga, gusto ko na lang mag-focus sa ibang bagay. Pero naisip ko, why not? Nandito ‘yong opportunity na ‘to, so i-grab natin.”

Meanwhile, from being competitors, she and Janine Berdin went on to perform alongside each other in ASAP Natin ‘To, just like their powerful duet of Popstar Royalty Sarah Geronimo’s “Isa Pang Araw”.

With regards to how she thinks she had changed as a performer through the years, the 18-year-old singer shared that compared to her younger years, she’s now more willing to try new things, try new techniques, new way of performing, new style, and she now enjoys performing more since she used to be timid before. And she has her showbiz friends to thank for helping her boost her confidence.

She wrapped up this Kapamilya React episode by expressing her message to everyone who has supported her relentlessly through the years.

“Salamat po sa lahat ng sumusuporta sa akin ever since The Voice, Tawag ng Tanghalan, and Idol, up until now. Maraming salamat po sa inyong lahat. I appreciate you all. Kaya thank you so much. Stay safe everyone and stay happy. I love you all!” she enthused.
