Beautiful changes happened in the life of young singer Lyca Gairanod since winning the first season of The Voice Kids in 2014. From living as a street kid who scavenged old newspapers and bottles to help her family get by, now teenage Lyca enjoys a more comfortable life. Thanks to her winnings, and earnings.
It wasn’t an easy transformation but Lyca found more than enough inspiration from her family and God. They are her biggest strengths. Their support, coupled with that of her fans, fuels her perseverance. Likewise, being away from her family is her greatest weakness.
Lyca looks forward to doing more out-of-town shows and projects in the future. She dreams to collaborate with Sarah Geronimo, her The Voice Kids coach. And if given the chance to, she would like to have a vlog content team-up with Alex Gonzaga.
In the meantime, while stuck at home, the young songstress creates solo vlog entries. She keeps on practicing her singing as well, and trying out quarantine food fads like graham cake. Unlike other millennials, Lyca is not into K-dramas. She prefers watching local movies especially those of her ultimate crush Daniel Padilla.
Besides the King of Hearts, there’s another boy that made Lyka ‘kilig’–Sam Shoaf, her fellow Your Face Sounds Familiar Kids alumni who she admittedly had a crush on. But they haven’t seen each other for long. “Hindi ko po alam. Ask him,” she said laughing when asked when they’ll meet again.
She misses going out with her family and hopes to travel with them after the quarantine. Apart from being a successful singer, she also dreams of becoming a doctor. She can’t think of a major mistake done in the past aside from being a ‘makulit na bata.’
The young Kapamilya took on The First and Last Challenge. Lyca shared that “Dance with My Father” was the first song she perfectly sang and “Pwede Nang Mangarap” was her first music album. Her first embarrassing moment was when she almost tripped in public. She first notices a person’s attitude than physical appearance.
Lyca thanked her fans, saying they’re part of her motivation and they’re like family to her. She invited them to watch out for her upcoming vlog entries.
