Kapamilya artists relive their Star Magic Ball/ABS-CBN Ball debut

The Ball among Kapamilya stars might have been a tradition in the world of showbiz, but there always has to be a first. As with a lot of things in life, firsts are always meant to be celebrated in the most special, unforgettable way, that is, despite the jitters.

In this exclusive video from ent.abs-cbn.com, Kapamilya artists rehash their first Star Magic Ball/ABS-CBN Ball experience.

With the phenomenal success of “Kadenang Ginto,” the Gold Squad had the privilege to walk the red carpet and rub elbows with the more senior stars in the ABS-CBN Ball 2019. “Senior High” star Andrea Brillantes strutted in a sophisticated, dreamy youthful Filipiniana terno with then-loveteam partner Seth Fedelin. Andrea had been a Star Magic artist for years when she got invited to the Ball, thus she was more relaxed unlike Seth, who admittedly experienced ‘culture shock’ since he just finished his PBB stint and got in Kadenang Ginto at the time.

Meanwhile, their squadmate Francine Diaz describes the experience as “overwhelming.” All eyes and cameras were on her and everyone was in a rush, she recalled.

JC De Vera just transferred to ABS-CBN when he graced the Star Magic Ball 2013,hence the anticipation and anxiety. “I didn’t know what to expect. I didn’t know what to wear,” he looked back, giving credit to designer Paul Cabral for making him the perfect suit.

As the Star Magic Ball transitioned into the more inclusive ABS-CBN Ball, more celebrities got to join the event including Majoy Apostol, who looks back on the 2019 edition as unexpected and a dream come true.

Nag-Aapoy Na Damdamin” lead actress Jane Oineza made her red-carpet debut in 2012 when she wore a white ball gown. “Sobrang happy ko kasi invited ako sa Ball. I was really looking forward to have fun,” she reminisced. RK Bagatsing, meanwhile, felt excited, nervous, and starstruck with the more senior artists.

Ria Atayde walked with her brother Arjo Atayde on her Star Magic Ball maiden appearance in 2016, the year she signed with Star Magic. “I remember wala pa akong stylist noon. It was our family designer, Tito Frankie de Leon that helped me with my gown, and my jewelry was from my mom.”

Darren Espanto got his first taste of the Ball in 2016 and missed only one edition due to work.

We can’t wait to see the next batch of first-timers at the upcoming ABS-CBN Ball 2023!

This year, the ABS-CBN Ball embarks on a new chapter that celebrates stories of gratitude and togetherness shared by the whole Kapamilya community – artists, employees, and collaborators.
