At 18, singer K Brosas got her heart broken by a guy for the first time – this and many more, she revealed in this video from Kapamilya Confessions. That guy was her first boyfriend. With all that she went through in the love department, K was quick to point out that a breakup is more miserable than an on-stage vocal fail. “Kasi sa pagpiyok, makaka-move on ka pa nu’n at makakabawi sa next na kanta, eh ‘yung pagmamahal naglalamat,” K’s on-point explanation.
Although we couldn’t think of a time when K gave out a performance that’s below excellent, she said there are days when she would not feel her best. She doesn’t follow any vocal ritual like what other singers do. Instead, she warms up by simply blowing the air out her chest.
K’s 20-year career has been a rollercoaster ride yet she’s extremely grateful for the longevity. She would admit that showbiz is easier to penetrate today than two decades ago when artists had to work doubly hard to leave a mark. K would call most of today’s young celebrities as lucky one-hit wonders. And as advice to the younger generation of stars, K underscored that popularity must be fuelled by humility, camaraderie towards others, and keeping it real.
As a gift to her avid audiences, K celebrates her 20th year in showbiz with a digital concert on July 31. The singer-comedienne vows to serve world-class entertainment with guests first Idol Philippines grand winner Zephanie Dimaranan, social media personalities Amor Carias and Macoy Dubs, and daughter Krystal Brosas. She calls the upcoming concert a night of laughter and music.
The ‘new normal’ in live concert scenes is completely different from K’s first-ever concert performance at the Music Museum 18 years ago. But as an artist, she needs to adapt to the trend. “Malaki ang adjustment kasi as performer sanay ako makarinig ng tawa at palakpak but definitely kahit anong device, ‘pag napanood niyo ‘yung concert mafe-feel niyo na para kayong nasa Araneta,” she enticed her fans. K and daughter Krystal are set to perform timely duets.
Taking on random questions from the netizens, K revealed that her secrets to a youthful glow includes a simple skincare regimen, removing makeup before hitting the sack, and keeping a positive attitude. K mentioned that she would like to trade voices with the Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez if given a chance to. “All I Ask” is her all-time favorite musical piece to perform and listen to while Celine Dion songs are the most challenging to cover.
Sharing more about her personal life, K learned to make the perfect pork adobo recipe during the quarantine. Her first date happened at the Philippine Plaza, now Sofitel. When asked about her last kiss, K realized, “Two years ago. Sad no?” She last cried just a day before the interview for reasons she did not reveal. If there’s a song she would like to sing this pandemic, it would be none other than the classic hit “Habang May Buhay” to remind everyone to live life to the fullest.
