Iana Bernardez realizes similarities with mom Angel Aquino as she reacts to her scenes in FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano

Angel Aquino as General Diana Olegario in FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano shows extensive fight and dramatic skills that keep viewers in awe. But if there’s someone truly proud of her performance in the series, it’s none other than her daughter Iana Bernardez, who gets teary-eyed whenever her mom cries on TV. Watch more of Iana’s reaction to Angel’s remarkable moments from the teleserye via this edition of Kapamilya React!

The first clip witnessed Angel and Lito Lapid aka Romulo’s farewell scene wherein Romulo sacrificed his life for his beloved wife Diana. Reacting to that, Iana said it breaks her heart watching her mom cry for a scene because she knows Angel’s struggle to recover after take.

“Naaawa ako kay Mommy everytime I see scenes like that especially when she’s dealing with, for example, may namatay… Because, alam ko ‘pag si Mommy ‘pag pumasok o lumundag siya doon sa scene, ‘pag nag-cut, umiiyak pa rin siya. As in ang tagal niyang umiiyak pa rin. Of course, as a daughter, masakit makita na umiiyak ‘yung nanay mo,” she said.

Iana was surprised, “aliw,” and “kilig” when Angel got a love interest on the show. She didn’t watch her intimate scene, though.

Besides drama, Angel also impresses in her action stunts as part of Cardo (Coco Martin)’s group, the Agilas. At one point, she faced esteemed martial artist Janice Hung in a brawl. On that clip, Iana said she’s surprised how Angel managed to pull it off since they aren’t that sporty in real life. Their only trainings are cardio and a bit of weightlifting for her, and yoga for Angel.

“Hindi kasi gan’un ka-athletic ‘yung Nanay ko. Seeing her do these fight scenes and stunts, in fairness! Nagulat ako sa scene na bigla niyang binuhat ‘yung kalaban niya. Clap, clap, Mommy!” Iana remembered her mom telling her how challenging it was, and that she’s amazed by Janice’s skills.

From action, we move to confrontations. There’s a scene in FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano wherein Angel locked horns with Lorna Tolentino’s character, Lily. “Gets ko na ‘yung sinasabi n’yo na kaboses ko si Mommy. Nakakatuwa lang panoorin,” she gushed after watching the video.

Besides the speaking voice, she also inherited Angel’s facial expressions, “When she gets mad, lagi siyang flaring nostrils. Apparently, nakuha ko pala at na-realize ko ‘yun when I played Patricia in Marry Me, Marry You.

Iana previously played Patricia, the kontrabida to Janine Gutierrez and Paulo Avelino’s love story in Marry Me, Marry You. She said her mom was extra supportive of her project even if they’re in separate bubbles.

“Talagang she makes the time to go on iWantTFC or YouTube to watch the episode. In Patricia’s crying scenes, I usually call her beforehand and ‘yun ang pinakamalaking support sa akin ni Mommy. Kahit naka-lock in siya, I’d call her and she’d say, ‘Sige, tawagan mo lang ulit ako mamaya ‘pag kailangan mo.’ Sasagot siya kahit ang hirap ng signal doon, kahit hindi kami masyadong nagkakarinigan. Marinig ko lang siya, tapos sabihin niya lang sa akin, ‘It’s okay,’ maiiyak na ako,” shared Iana, who also works behind the cameras as a producer, and is part of the digital series “Misis Piggy.”

Of course, she’s also game to guest star in FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano. If given the chance, she’d like to play one of Cardo’s allies like her mom.

To cap it off, Iana shared a heartfelt message for her beloved Mommy Angel: “I’m really, really so proud of you. And I’m grateful everyday that you’re my mom. I don’t know what I did in my past life to deserve someone like you. So, thank you. I love you!”
