How Jane Oineza prepared for her detective-agent role in “Cattleya Killer”

Jane Oineza is bringing excitement anew to her avid followers, and this time, she’s making it even bigger. Hear the actress' thrilling news about her upcoming projects in this episode of Kapamilya Chat.

On top of the list is Cattleya Killer,”  which is the first Filipino production to screen at the prestigious MIPCOM Cannes, the world’s largest content market. Adapted from the Aga Muhlach-starrer and Star Cinema-produced “Sa Aking Mga Kamay” (1996), the series revolves around the titular serial killer who preys on women cheating on their husbands.

The story is set years after NBI deputy director Joven dela Rosa (Christopher de Leon) solved the infamous Cattleya Killer case. However, Joven and his two sons Anton (Arjo Atayde), an NBI agent, and Benjie (Jake Cuenca), the administrator of a center for traumatized women, are confronted by mystery and dark secrets as the Cattleya Killer appears to resurface.

Jane is set to prove her mettle in the acting arena as Tina Galvez, a badass detective agent assigned to the Cattleya Killer case. She was careful not to spoil the exciting parts of the story but there was an intense scene of Arjo, Jake, and her that you wouldn’t want to miss. It was a lengthy scene that they shot in just one go, “Ang daming siksik na nangyari talaga sa scene na ‘to. Hiningal din ako sa dubbing, so gano’n siya ka-intense.”

The former child star couldn’t hide her ‘kilig’ over working with some of the industry’s big names, “Hanggang ngayon ‘pag nakikita ko ‘yung pictures namin together tapos nakikita ko ‘yung sarili ko na nando’n, parang, ‘Wow! kasama ako sa napaka-amazing, napakabigating cast!’”

Of course, she has every right to earn a spot in the stellar cast. She’s a woman fascinating and strong, one who always looks for action. For this big-deal series, she put in extra effort to emulate Tina’s character. Apart from studying the script and character background provided by the creatives, she repeatedly watched crime documentaries.

Considering how hard of a shoot it was – they’d normally film from 5 pm to 5 am for the external night scenes – Jane took extra care of her physical health. She would squeeze workout time into her busy schedule and eat healthy.

She’s thankful that her very collaborative director, Dan Villegas, and co-stars made life on set easier. She is sure that “Cattleya Killer will not disappoint, as even they are excited to binge-watch the whole series, of which all six episodes will drop on June 1 via Prime Video.

Before closing the interview, Jane reacted to being assigned her first lead role via Nag-Aapoy Na Damdamin,” a collaboration of ABS-CBN and TV5, and also starring Ria Atayde, JC De Vera, and Tony Labrusca.

“Excited ako sa lahat ng mga paparating. Ito namang mga projects din na lumalabas ngayon, part ‘to ng mga tinanim ko na mga seeds, and now we’re seeing it isa-isa, growing, ‘yung iba nagbo-bloom na kasi ipapalabas na, so natutuwa lang din ako na nabu-busy tayo as a workaholic,” she said. “Happy ako na sunod-sunod ang blessings na dumarating, and excited ako to share it with everyone.”

It’s the dawn of a new era for Jane, and she’s looking forward to sweeter, bigger things ahead.
