Hotspot: Maymay Entrata reacts to netizens’ assumptions about her

A few days after the momentous release of her latest single “Di Kawalan”, Maymay Entrata graced the latest episode of Hotspot to promote it and to also tackle random things about love with host DJ Jhai Ho.

Since both of them have unmistakable sense of humor, viewers expected that their conversation would be just be filled with laughter. But lo and behold, we were astounded to witness them veer into in-depth and serious talks in some portions of the interview as they delved into the topic of love.

As the “Di Kawalan” music video has already reached more than four million, she expressed how thankful and blessed she is for the overwhelming support of everyone, especially her fans.

“Feeling blessed.

Being in the local entertainment scene for four years now, Maymay proudly disclosed that this is her first time to be completely hands-on in a project as Star Music allowed her to get involved every step of the way. Thus, she’s very happy that they had considered the inputs and ideas she imparted in their meetings, as well as to be able to work with the dancers, the whole production team, their director Edrex Clyde Sanchez, and the whole Star Music and Star Pop family who gave her this kind of opportunity.

When asked what “Di Kawalan” is all about, she imparted that although a lot of people have perceived it as a song on women empowerment, it’s actually beyond that.

Since the song touches the cliché yet ever significant topic of self-love, DJ Jhai Ho veered their conversation to a more serious note by asking how Maymay values her worth as a person. This compelled Maymay to recall the instance when she took herself for granted because of someone she genuinely loved, which made her realize that she should be really careful in choosing the people in her life and keep those who never failed to remind her of her worth. Besides, that experience also taught her to always check herself every time she will feel not loving herself enough.

With how she’s able to fascinatingly performed “Di Kawalan”, she admitted actually going through the same situations enumerated in the song and went on to narrate how she coped and moved on from it.

DJ Jhai Ho seconded that by uttering how easy it is usually for the people around to tell us to move on from something or someone that broke our heart, when it’s actually difficult to do it. This made him a bit emotional, especially when Maymay asked him if he’s already okay.

The ASAP Natin ‘To mainstay also gamely explained her definition of love by equating it to sacrifice, when quizzed by the host to share her own interpretation of the oft-used word. She even gave a sample of “Di Kawalan” after being asked what her most favorite part of the song is and expounded how she’s able to relate to it.

When it comes to taking risk in jumping into a relationship, she disclosed that she actually has the ability to determine the personality of a guy the moment he introduces himself or talks.

They then proceeded on playing the “Assumption Challenge”, wherein Maymay had to address the assumptions of some netizens towards her, which they sent on ABS-CBN Entertainment’s social media platforms. These include her blooming friendship with Kim Chiu, being chismosa, being forgiving, being quick-tempered, and having a new love.

But the most intriguing is her alleged romantic affair with He’s Into Her lead star Donny Pangilinan, which she quickly denied, as well as her rumored romance with loveteam partner Edward Barber. She emphasized that there’s already someone outside showbiz who makes her happy at present and refused to give further details about it.

“Di Kawalan” composer Trisha Denise Campaner joined the conversation afterwards and narrated what inspired her to write the song.

So ‘yong mga heartbreak, napagdaanan ko na ‘yan,” she told DJ Jhai Ho and Maymay. She added that it’s actually a “personal hugot” since she was only given a peg when this project was assigned to her before the pandemic.

Trisha also expressed her delight and praises to Maymay and the whole team for being able to produce a truly enthralling music video, which was released last May 21.

Aside from being a composer, it was revealed that she’s also a singer and in fact just released her debut album “Piece of the Puzzle” and its carrier single “Bakit Ba?” She has been actually musically-inclined ever since her younger years and joined in several songwriting contests. Her breakthrough is “Teka Muna Pag-ibig”, which was recorded by Janella Salvador.
