Heaven Peralejo’s memorable experience on Ipaglaban Mo: “Kutob”

Heaven Peralejo is taking a break from being Macopa on Pamilya Ko to star in the upcoming Ipaglaban Mo episode “Kutob”!

As Meann on #IMKutob, she will portray a loving daughter and grandchild. She is particularly close to her grandparents. Meann would often help her lola and lolo at doing house chores and selling biko in their community. Unfortunately, they suddenly disappeared and left Meann with a bad feeling. “’Yung ‘yung kailangan nilang abangan. Tama ba ‘yung kutob ko? Mali ba? Ano dapat kong gawin?” Heaven teased the viewers.

One of the lessons the Kapamilyas actress learned based on this Ipaglaban Mo episode and her character’s experience is not to trust others so easily. The same goes about “kutob”. These are not reliable, especially without actual facts. Another insight she picked up is how people can act out of character when angry. “Minsan ‘pag nadadaan talaga sa galit, hindi mo alam kung ano ‘yung magiging kakalabasan,” she added. The best one can do is always try to stay calm and to think logical.

When asked what it was like to work with AJ Muhlach for #IMKutob, Heaven praised and thanked their cast for being kind. “’Di ko na-feel ‘yung inferiority,” she explained. Despite having fewer years in the industry than the veterans cast members, it was still a light and fun set, especially since they had a lot of memorable experiences throughout their shoot.

Heaven recalled how there was no signal on location. During the second day of taping, they had to climb up a mountain with only a map to rely on. Without GPS and no locals to ask for directions, they quickly became lost. Eventually, they crossed paths with someone and realized that they were in the wrong mountain. Because this ate up their morning, their schedule had to be pushed back.

Some of their scenes were shot at night which meant they had to endure the extreme cold. Heaven could not wear a jacket when shooting a scene. The problem was some scenes were shot more than once. There were also parts when she had to cry, but her tears were drying up fast. “Hindi na makalabas ‘yung iyak ko kasi ang nararamdaman ko lang, ang lamig,” she recounted.

Another challenge the Pamilya Ko star faced for the weekend anthology was filming one long continuous shot. This was a first for her. It was difficult because they could not make a single mistake, otherwise they will have to start from the beginning.

Do not miss the outcome of all these memorable experience and lessons learned on Ipaglaban Mo, after It’s Showtime this Saturday, February 29!
