We’ve witnessed all sorts of transformation this quarantine. The rise of digital platforms like Zoom is one of the major glow-ups we didn’t saw coming. Because now that physical interaction is limited, our lives have been anchored on all things virtual. This means there will be more Zoom fails and bloopers piling up, and even our favorite Kapamilya stars have their own embarrassing Zoom moments to share!
Enchong Dee agreed to take on Pooh’s round off challenge. Since he’s cooped up inside the room, the competitive Enchong miscalculated the space, fell on the floor, and messed up with the wirings. Thankfully, he didn’t break the gadgets, and his bones. But this one’s literally got us ROFL-ing!
“Nandito lang kasi ako sa bed ko, eh hindi ko naman nasukat kung gaano kalaki ‘yung bed. So, pag-ikot ko, sumobra ako sa kama, nabagsak ako sa floor. Pagbagsak ko sa floor, nahatak ko ‘yung saksakan ng ilaw, ‘yung mismong stand ng camera, pati ‘yung phone,” said Enchong.
“Can you hear me?” is probably the new normal era’s ‘hello.’ Because on Zoom, technicalities like sounds and microphone malfunctions are the most common sources of hilarity. Tart Carlos shared a lot during the Ang Sa Iyo Ay Akin: “Unscripted” live airing but only to realize that she’s muted for the entire 5 minutes of babbling.
Kira Balinger gasped and screamed in shock over the pricey teacup puppies she’s eyeing online, clueless that her microphone was on. Everyone was just as surprised. Lesson learned? Mute the microphone, or perhaps don’t go online shopping in the middle of a meeting.
Ang Sa Iyo ay Akin actor Paulo Angeles had a similar experience when he accidentally cussed during a live interview. His co-star Michelle Vito likewise endured her mom’s embarrassing loud voice in the background.
Since most projects are now virtually produced, celebrities bring us double entertainment with hilarious Zoom taping goofs. We could imagine Mark Rivera’s unease while filming for “The Four Bad Boys and Me.” He narrated, “Magro-roll na kami, sabay-sabay ‘yung ingay sa bahay namin. May kapitbahay sa taas, may contractor, pukpok nang pukpok tapos biglang ‘rolling, 3, 2,1’ biglang may manok. While nagte-take kami, biglang tumulo ‘yung aircon. Hiyang-hiya na talaga ako.”
His fellow ‘bad boy’ Aljon Mendoza has a similar story. The cast gave their best for an intense back-and-forth but only to re-take the whole scene as Aljon’s camera was set on slow-motion. On the bright side, the epic fail was a hit among his co-stars.
It appears like Kaori Oinuma’s dogs and housemates are aspiring stars as well. “Minsan may taong dumadaan sa likod ko, nakiki-‘hi’ sila sa Zoom. Tapos meron din dumadaan na tricycle habang nagsasalita ako, so nasasapawan. May times din na nag-aaway ‘yung mga aso.”
Sometimes solo living has its advantage, proven by Lou Yanong who doesn’t have anyone walking into her Zoom appearances. The challenging part though is when she doesn’t have someone to receive her package. If you notice Lou looking down in the middle of a Zoom meeting, she’s probably texting the rider in secret.
Package blunder is likewise DJ Jhai Ho’s entry. As revealed by Rhys Miguel, the host received a call and loud knocks on the door in the middle of an interview. So, DJ Jhai got up to receive the item. Talk about live entertainment!
Zoomers can’t help a little misunderstanding. While airing for Ang Sa Iyo Ay Akin: Unscripted, comedian Brenda Mage cringed with shame after a gaffe with Iza Calzado. “Paglabas na paglabas ng mukha ko, sabi ni Ms. Iza, ‘Hi my loves.’ Ako naman, ‘Hello po’. Akala ko ako tinawag niyang ‘my loves.’ Si Ms. Jodi pala nag-chat sa kanya ng, ‘I’m watching right now.’ Napamura talaga ako,” Brenda shared.
Meanwhile, internet errors make Zoom meetings annoying, but sometimes more fun. Sky Quizon had to take over a live interview when the host’s screen went blank.
Elisse Joson was in the middle of an important meeting with the bosses when the poor signal resulted in poor hearing as well. “’Yung internet ko nagla-lag. May meeting ako kasama sina Mr. M. Tapos hindi ko sila naririnig, so lagi akong, ‘Sorry, ano po ‘yun? Pakiulit.’”
Even a Zoom conference won’t get in the way of the A Soldier’s Heart boys’ kalokohan. And Royce Cabrera turned into a target. Yves Flores shared, “Kapag nagme-meeting kami sa ASH, sobrang gulo namin. Napagtripan namin si Royce. Nagpa-private chat kami nina Vin and Jerome. Kasi ‘yung pose ni Royce, naka flex. Sabi namin, huy gusto na ng next project. Nagpapakita na ng muscle.”
Their buddy Elmo Magalona, on the other hand, takes Zoom guesting seriously. He asked for a friend’s help to fix the setup.
As more celebs continue to still find their way around the digital platform, expect more Zoom fails and blunders to come!
