DonBelle pros & cons of being a celeb

Celebrities have the privilege to do what an ordinary person can’t – and vice versa. Find out the pros and cons of showbiz life straight from phenomenal Gen-Z love team Donny Pangilinan and Belle Mariano via this special feature.

Everyone has the ability to make other people happy but the ‘celebrity effect’ is no doubt a million times more powerful. Especially now that digital media narrows the gap between artists and fans, the former are able to reach more audiences, thus able to inspire and entertain more. This would have to be the biggest advantage according to Belle. After all, her purpose in showbiz is “to put smile on other people’s faces.”

However, she admits that it’s not always as simple as that, “There are always cons after that. I mean, we’re only human and not what you see on screen is usually like that. You don’t know what’s going behind the screen, like, behind those smiles pala we’re going through something.”

Donny seconded that nothing will beat the opportunity to make people smile. But, like in any other career, he believes celebrity life has its fair share of disadvantages including “lack of privacy and not being able to do certain things.”

But at the end of the day, blessed pa rin kami at sobrang grateful,” he concluded.

Belle started her career as a child actress – she was part of the kiddie gag show Goin’ Bulilit – and commercial model. Meanwhile, Donny comes from a family that’s well-known in showbiz – his parents are Maricel Laxa and Anthony Pangilinan – but it was only in 2016 when he officially joined the industry as a MYX VJ.
