A few days after it was announced that they’ll be starring in the upcoming Cathy Garcia-Molina film “Love At First Stream,” its lead stars Anthony Jennings and Daniela Stranner graced the latest episode of Hotspot last Thursday, July 15.
Their fun and insightful chikahan commenced with host DJ Jhai Ho asking both of them how they feel about being part of the movie, as well as how their showbiz careers started.
“Masaya, Mama Jhai, lalo na no’ng nalaman naman kasi sobrang tagal na naming hinihintay ni Anthony ‘to kasi basically this movie is like our big break. Sobrang nakakatuwa, actually hindi pa rin ako makapaniwala na meron kaming movie ni Jennings tapos isa pa kami sa mga lead. Tapos kasama pa namin ang fellow Rise Artists, sila Kaori [at Rhys] so nakakatuwa lang. Masaya,” she ardently expressed.
On the other hand, Anthony shared that this is actually a dream come true for him, not to mention that they’re immediately given the main roles in their launching big screen project. “Hindi naman sa napre-pressure kami, pero alam mo ‘yon, may kaba na may excitement. Pero mostly excited talaga kaming gawin ‘yong pelikula and masaya ako dahil siyempre directed by Direk Cathy.”
While Daniela was discovered by a talent agent at a mall during a hangout session with a guy friend, Anthony’s ticket was doing commercials. They may have entered in different ways, but both of them have always dreamt of making it to the local entertainment scene.
When quizzed on what “Love At First Stream” will be all about, Anthony explained that it will show the story of the current generation and their journey in the digital world as their characters use it in order to escape their realities offline.
He will play Christopher, a family-oriented, simple guy who just goes with everything that flows in his life, while Daniela will be Vilma, a gumptious girl who’s determined to attain all her goals. According to her, they got their roles during an interview with the creators, which, unbeknown to them, doubled as a go-see for the film.
This is Anthony’s second time working with the premier filmmaker after the blockbuster hit “Hello, Love, Goodbye” in 2019. Meanwhile, Daniela disclosed that this is supposed to be her second time working with Direk Cathy, too, but that never happened during her stint in Make It With You. She confessed initially feeling pressured and frightened of her, but they’re now closer and she is looking forward on learning more from the director.
They then proceeded on playing the “Who’s Who” Challenge, wherein the up-and-rising “DanThony” tandem, who was introduced in the series Make It With You and “Love On Da Move,” revealed who between them suited more the descriptions given by DJ Jhai Ho and provided explanations in each.
Both of them agreed that it’s Daniela who is more paranoid about things and easily falls asleep anywhere, while it’s Anthony who is likely to endure not taking a shower for days and getting viral because of a hilarious content. Meanwhile, both of them admitted being grouchy or matampuhin and likely to eat a lot.
Since both of them apparently know one another on a deeper level, DJ Jhai Ho quizzed them if their respective personalities could pass the standards they’re looking for in a guy. They both confessed that they actually do, with Daniela pointing out his sense of humor, while Anthony admires her bubbly personality.
The exclusive interview wrapped up with the two young Rise Artist Studio talents exchanging heartwarming messages.
Daniela went first by stating, “Hindi tayo magkakilala for a long time pero grabe ‘yong friendship na nabuo natin. Sobrang happy ako with what we have now and you know, ‘yong loveteam natin ‘di tayo sure kung magugustuhan tayo ng mga tao and all. But, siguro ‘yong promise ko sa’yo is I’ll always be here for you and magtutulungan tayo. We’ll do our best. First project natin together and I’m happy. Tulungan tayo, Jennings.”
Anthony responded to it by uttering, “Unang-una, siyempre salamat, Dani, nandiyan ka palagi. Masaya din ako sa kung anong friendship ang nabuo natin. Suportahan natin ang isa’t isa hanggang dulo, susuportahan kita kahit saan ka mapunta, kahit di na ako ‘yong ka-loveteam mo. Alam ko naman ‘yong potential mo, alam ko ‘yong galing mo, and alam ko kung ano ang kaya mong gawin. Alam kong kayang-kaya mo lahat. [I-grab] mol ang kung anong nandiyan.”
Directed by blockbuster director Cathy Garcia-Molina, “Love At First Stream” is the first joint project of ABS-CBN’s film production arm Star Cinema and popular streaming platform Kumu. Daniela Stranner and Anthony Jennings will be joined by Pinoy Big Brother Otso alumni and He’s Into Her stars Kaori Oinuma and Rhys Miguel, and another on-screen pair who are yet to be unveiled.
