There’s no denying that “Unbreak My Heart,” the historic and groundbreaking teleserye that marked ABS-CBN and GMA’s first collaboration, has been a great source of romance and entertainment for all Kapamilya and Kapuso viewers and audiences around the world. But like any other series, it also has to come to an end. By ending, we mean a rollercoaster finale that will keep us at the edge of our seats until the last sequence. Twists and shocking scenes await us in the final two episodes until Friday, November 16.

Since we’re not yet ready to say goodbye to our beloved characters, we’re glad that the show released a behind-the-scenes video of their last taping day. Not only does it offer a glimpse of the intense hard work and dedication that goes into each scene, but it also reminds us how the cast members are so close in real life that they could feel every bit of ‘sepanx’ in their hearts.

Even during the early days of filming in Europe, you can already see how solid the cast and crew are, so it’s no news that they will dearly miss each other.

As Joshua Garcia described the atmosphere of their last taping day, “Lahat parang nase-sepanx na. Lahat nlulungkot na kasi, siyempre, after ng napakahabang pagtatrabaho namin at samahan, eh, parang maghihiwa-hiwalay na ulit.” He added that his final scenes with Jodi Sta Maria are among his favorites, specifically that moment where he bid her goodbye. “Kasi after ng mga psycho ko na moments, babalik na ako sa dating Renz,” he hinted.

Gabbi Garcia further revealed that they had a cast party after their final taping, thus she felt mixed emotions, “By the time na last scene ko, nagpalakpakan na, it was such a bittersweet moment for me. Hindi mo alam kung masaya ka ba kasi magpapa-party na kayo o malulungkot ka ba kasi last mo na ‘to na makikita ‘yung mga kasama mo as a group.” To her, “Unbreak My Heart” is truly one for the books, “I didn’t really expect na I could build relationships outside of my network.”

Gabbi has grown genuine friendships with her co-stars, including Jodi who played her mother in the series. She recalls, “’Yung last scene namin together, nu’ng natapos na ‘yun, nasa dressing room na kami, I started crying talaga. Kasi parang nauna si Ate Jodi sa akin matapos ng ilang araw. Sabi ko sa kanya, ‘Paano na ako magte-taping, wala ka na.’ Tapos iyak ako nang iyak. Hindi ko alam kung nalungkot ako, or na-happy kasi naka-build ako ng relationship with her. Mixed emotions.”

She remembers Jodi making her a promise, “Gabriela, huwag kang mag-alala, magkikita at magkikita pa rin tayo.” True enough, their closeness has gone beyond their taping set, “Siya ‘yung tipong Ate na na kahit matagal kami hindi magkita, matagal kami hindi mag-usap, pareho pa rin, parang walang magbabago.”

Jodi added that she and Gabbi promised each other that they’ll be more than just taping friends. “Para ko siyang bunsong kapatid,” she said of Gabbi. Meanwhile, she rehashed the challenges she went through during their last taping day in Tagaytay City, particularly the highly emotional scenes combined with the cold Tagaytay weather that was made even colder by the rain effect. She also wouldn’t forget that the vehicle they borrowed from one of their creatives for that scene accidentally crashed. “The day ended with a bang, as in bangga,” she quipped. In the video, Jodi is seen thanking everyone from their director Emmanuel Palo to the cameramen and crew as soon as she finished her final sequence. She tells everyone, “See you soon!”

Director Dolly Dulu opts to describe their final filming as fun, “Every after namin makatapos ng isang eksena tapos nagko-close na ‘yung character, lahat kami nagpapa-picture, nagsasaya kasi parang ‘yun na ang last hurrah at last memory namin doon sa taping. Masaya siya.”

They went on to share the reasons why this series will hold a special place in their hearts. Joshua reflects, “Mahal ko itong project na ‘to. Ang tagal kong hinintay ‘to, eh. And nagpapasalamat ako na dumating siya kasi it was a really good transition for me na makagawa ng level-up doon sa mga nagawa ko na before.”

The quite sentimental Gabbi says she will treasure the experience of working with stars and production staff outside her home network. She also appreciates how the teleserye pushed her to grow as an actor and as a person.

In Direk Dolly’s words, “Para talaga kaming isang buong pamilya na nagtulong-tulong para makagawa ng isang magandang teleserye.” She continued, “Thank you talaga kasi very generous si Direk Manny, very generous rin lahat ng artistang nakatrabaho ko.”

Jodi also mused, “I am thankful to be given the opportunity to be part of one of the biggest partnerships that happened in Philippine television. Grateful ako sa mga buhay na nakasama ko habang ginagawa ko ang ‘Unbreak My Heart.’ Siyempre, ‘yung mga life lessons na natutunan ko kay Rose Jacinto.”

The cast then thanked viewers who supported the series and invited them to catch its gripping finale. It’s a wrap for Team “Unbreak My Heart” but the memories they’ve built and shared will live on forever!
