Over the past two decades, Star Cinema has never failed to deliver quality content to Filipinos around the world through the top-rating series and blockbuster hit movies it has produced through the years that either brought us inspiration, kilig, laughter, tears, or terror.
Let’s take a look back on the most remarkable scenes from its 10 films that completely broke our hearts. These made us cry because of how compelling the performances of the actors that made us feel the emotions they were trying to convey, or maybe because these scenes simply reminded us of the similar situations that we’re currently in or used to go through.
First on the list is the Sarah Geronimo and Piolo Pascual-starrer “The Breakup Playlist” (2015), wherein we saw how love bloomed, died, and lived again for their characters Trixie and Gino. The 2017 flick headlined by Joshua Garcia and Julia Barretto, “Love You The Stars And Back,” comes next, which didn’t only took us to an epic road trip, but also tore our hearts on that scene when Caloy questioned why God let him have cancer.
The tear-jerking confrontations and heart-rending moments among the lead characters in the family drama movies “My Perfect You” (2018), “Way Back Home” (2011), and “Anak” (2000) also succeeded in pulling our heartstrings with how the thespians were able to impeccably pull off those scenes.
Certainly, who would forget the highest-grossing Filipino film of all-time in 2018, “The Hows Of Us,” that introduced to us the young couple Primo (Daniel Padilla) and George (Kathryn Bernardo), whose relationship once filled with rainbows and sunshines eventually became on the rocks due to the challenges and misunderstandings they went through.
Just when we thought that it was going to be a fun movie all throughout, some of us probably didn’t expect to shed a tear in the 2018 comedy movie “Ang Dalawang Mrs. Reyes” as we witnessed the formidable dramatic chops of Judy Ann Santos-Agoncillo in her character Lianne’s painful spat with her gay husband played by Joross Gamboa.
Of course, it’s definitely impossible for that “Syinota mo ang bestfriend mo” scene in the 2010 Gerald Anderson and Kim Chiu-starrer “Paano Na Kaya” to not be included in this toplist for many were surely reminded of their own experiences of falling in love with their best friends.
Christmas of 2012 had a tinge of drama as Star Cinema presented its tear-jerker “One More Try” as part of the Metro Manila Film Festival. This particular confrontation between the characters of Zanjoe Marudo and Angel Locsin was just one of those scenes that definitely broke our hearts in the award-winning film.
And last but definitely not the least is “A Second Chance,” which is the sequel to the iconic flick “One More Chance” also top-billed by John Lloyd Cruz and Bea Alonzo. While the first installment already ripped our hearts, this further made us bawl our eyes out as it captured the married life of Popoy and Basha filled with challenges just on their paper year.
So which among these scenes or movies made you shed buckets of tears and shattered your heart the most?
