Roxanne Guinoo proved her mettle as a dramatic actress when she topbilled ABS-CBN's 2008's TV series Ligaw na Bulaklak.
Roxanne essayed the challenging role of Lea Alegro – a woman scorned by her childhood memories and need to fulfill her life's promise to bind her family together. Lea is a "whisperer" to a champion horse.
ABS-CBN has chosen the Sta. Ana Racetrack as one of the locations for Ligaw na Bulaklak. In this world filled with gambling and luck, one woman defies the odds in an effort to be reunited with her family.
As a young girl, Lea has always led a difficult life. She is the love child of a couple who had a forbidden romance. Her parents become separated from her as well as her brother Ronel and sister Fatima. Lea is sold as a servant to a horse stable and eventually becomes a resident of Girls' Town in Marikina City.
Lea finds comfort in her childhood friend Billy who becomes her protector. The heartthrob Ian (Ron Morales) also develops a crush on the young woman. When the street-smart Lea meets the well-educated Francis, their blossoming romance proves that opposites do attract.
This series also marked a milestone in the cast's respective careers – Kjwan vocalist and vj Marc Abaya made his acting debut as one of Roxanne's leading men Francis, a romantic, well-educated lad. Multi-awarded actor Sid Lucero played romantic lead Billy, Lea's childhood sweetheart. Manila Mayor Isko Moreno made a showbiz comeback then as Mon, a self-made man whose undying love for a woman continues to inspire him to do good. Coco Martin also made his Kapamilya debut as Ronel, Lea's brother.
Ligaw na Bulaklak also featured the love triangle of Matteo Guidicelli, Erich Gonzales and Carla Humphries. Also included in the cast were Smokey Manoloto, Arlene Muhlach, Ron Morales, Jaymee Joaquin, Nonie Buencamino, Joem Bascon, and Chokoleit with the special participation of Jodi Sta Maria.
