Ever since its inaugural staging in 2018, ABS-CBN Ball has become one of the most significant celebrity and fashion event in the country. It is the night when some of the brightest stars in the converge and bless us with their mesmerizing splendor and sophistication by dressing up to the nines and arriving in on-fleek makeup and hair.

But aside from anticipating what and who our favorite celebrities are wearing, we also look forward on seeing who are going solo or with a gorgeous date. And during the ABS-CBN Ball 2019, we were able to spot a number of couples and we listed some of them in this special feature. Read on as we recall how they spread genuine kilig as they walked down the red carpet hand-in-hand in their fabulous outfits.

Iza Calzado and Ben Wintle

First on this roster are Mr. & Mrs. Wintle, who was then just approaching the first anniversary of their wedding that year. The Ang Sa Iyo Ay Akin star marked her first attendance to the Ball as a married woman in a fuchsia pink mermaid terno with butterfly sleeves bedazzled with silver paillettes. She punctuated her deific look with silver accessories, a silver and black clutch bag, and slick long hair. Her businessman-husband, on the other hand, was so handsome in his grayish-blue Barong Tagalog.

Regine Velasquez and Ogie Alcasid

Almost a year after formalizing her transfer to ABS-CBN, Regine finally made her first and official appearance at the Ball in 2019. The Asia’s Songbird opted for a ravishing form-fitting timeless black terno with embroidery and drape details on the skirt, which she matched with chic jewelries and clutch bag. Her handsome date then was, none other than, her OPM icon-husband Ogie, who donned a classic white Barong Tagalog.

Richard Gutierrez and Sarah Lahbati

These lovebirds were indeed the epitome of regality in the second year of the Ball, as they both rocked the red carpet in matching cream nude ensembles. The The Iron Heart leading man looked so debonair in his sustainable and innovative Barong Tagalog that featured four types of barong patterns that was said to come from the previous ones he wore. His lovely wife, on the other hand, stunned in an off-shoulder silk Filipiniana dress with oversized sleeves that she accentuated with a choker made up of pearls. Thus, there’s definitely no wonder that they were hailed the Couple of the Night.

Sylvia Sanchez and Arturo Atayde

After coming to the Ball solo in the previous year, Sylvia finally had a companion as she walked down the red carpet in 2019 – her beloved husband Arturo. Both of them wore matching cream nude barong, with the Senior High actress cladded in a feminine version that had intricate embroidery details and open collar, which she paired with a long A-line black skirt. Arturo, meanwhile, looked so honorable in his modern cream nude Barong Tagalog with Chinese collar.

Zsa Zsa Padilla and Conrad Onglao

On their second time of attending the Ball together, Zsa Zsa and her longtime partner Architect Conrad Onglao once again endeared us as they walked down the red carpet wearing their brightest smiles. The Divine Diva looked really celestial in shimmering black terno, while her good-looking escort was in a modern white barong.

Jericho Rosales and Kim Jones

From appearing solo at the inaugural edition of the Ball, Jericho arrived in 2019 with his lovely model-wife Kim Jones. They looked fun and fierce in their matching off-white numbers, with the seasoned actor charming us in his Barong Tagalog with embroidered palay, sun, and water designs, while the fashion model enthralled us in an avant-garde floor-length frock. Echo proudly showed off his funky long curls, while Kim rocked a slick blonde pixie hair.

Maricar Reyes and Richard Poon

Six years into their marriage, the couple attended the Ball for the umpteenth time in 2019. Rocking a rose gold pixie cut, Maricar was among the best dressed females in her gorgeous intricate sage green silk number that featured a sweetheart neckline. Her husband, crooner Richard, complemented her by putting on an all-black ensemble that boasted a patterned suit jacket.

Judy Ann Santos and Ryan Agoncillo

Even though Ryan works in another network, that didn’t hinder him from accompanying his wife, seasoned actress Judy Ann, at the ABS-CBN Ball that year. They arrived in matching black outfits, with the Primetime Drama Queen sashaying in an asymmetrical off-shoulder dress with tulle ruffles on both sleeves and a thigh-high slit, while the bespectacled TV host looked dapper in a black Barong Tagalog. Avid fans could certainly recall that their beautiful lovestory began in ABS-CBN, when they worked together in the 2004 superserye Krystala. 

Nikki Valdez and Luis GarciaWhile her contemporaries opted for relatively modest Filipiniana outfits, Nikki dared to show off her toned ab

s by putting on a two-piece black terno with gold details on the neckline and butterfly sleeves of her crop-top, as well as on her skirt that featured a thigh-high slit. She topped it off with a wavy caramel bob. The Pira-Pirasong Paraiso actress came with her beloved husband, Luis Garcia, who looked debonair in black Barong Tagalog and trousers.

Kim Chiu and Xian Lim

Another couple to delight us with their presence together at the charity gala was the KimXi tandem, who showed up in matching white ensembles. The It’s Showtime host astonished us in a bedazzled barong-inspired form-fitting trumpet dress, while Xian was equally handsome in a suit with textured coat. While seeing them on their eighth Ball together was already enough to amaze us, the reel-and-real-life sweethearts further made our hearts flutter when we learned that he carried her down the stairs as she found it difficult to take big strides because of the structure of her gown.

Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla

Of course, who would ever miss the appearance of KathNiel in their seventh Ball together? And being one of the most well-loved pairs on-and-off-screen in the country, they made sure to not disappoint anew with their choice of garbs on the red carpet. Kathryn captivated us in a shimmering form-fitting fuchsia pink terno with mesh sweetheart neckline that she accentuated with her full-fringe hair and sultry makeup. Meanwhile, Daniel charmed us in a patterned blue suit over a barong that he matched with a yellow-tinted pair of shades.

Loisa Andalio and Ronnie Alonte

Last, but definitely not the least, was LoiNie, whose looks at the star-studded event were “best-dressed-worthy”. Loisa was absolutely lovely and dainty in a beaded red terno with deep-V mesh neckline that she accentuated with her romantic coif and subtle makeup. While that was seemingly her top choice of outfit for that glitzy evening, Ronnie actually prepared two. He initially picked a barong-inspired suit jacket that he adorned with a plum faux corsage that matched his inner shirt, before switching to a deconstructed black barong that put him in the “Best Dressed Males” list of a magazine.
