In the past 14 years, our beloved It’s Showtime fam has not only brought us good vibes and laughter through their banters onstage, but has also never failed to serve us with fashion moments daily as each one of them always show up in fashionable casual OOTDs.
While we have occasionally seen them dress up to the nines during special episodes of the noontime show, the madlang people were probably astonished the most when the hosts attended the inaugural ABS-CBN Ball in 2018 and mesmerized us in their most stylish, most classy, and most debonair looks.
Leading the pack was Vice Ganda, who really lived up to her “Unkabogable Star” title as she sashayed down the red carpet in an intricately-designed ensemble by esteemed Dubai-based Filipino designer Michael Cinco, which was reportedly part of his collection dubbed as “The Impalpable Dream of Sainte-Chapelle Spring-Summer 2016.”
It was comprised of a shimmering black gown and an exaggeratedly long cape that featured hand-painted stained glass-inspired details and decked with multicolored Swarovski crystals. She matched it with bold makeup, a pair of glittery gloves, and long, wavy blonde wig that she topped off with a thorn crown.
Eight years since the last time she attended the Star Magic Ball in 2010, Anne Curtis made a grand comeback on the red carpet for the inaugural edition of the ABS-CBN Ball. She marked her return by wearing a custom black sweetheart ball gown that was said to be part of the Spring 2019 Bridal collection of renowned US-based Filipina designer Monique Lhuillier. She punctuated her dainty and gorgeous look by putting on a starry Jennifer Behr headband, a pair of diamond stud earrings, and freshly manicured fingernails with dried flowers as design.
Vhong Navarro, meanwhile, showed us what “suave” really looks like as he strutted in a four-piece black suit. It was made up of a custom suit jacket with peak lapel, waistcoat, trousers, white button-down shirt, and a slim bowtie. He accentuated his look with a black corsage, orange-tinted shades, and a quirky hairstyle with ash blond highlights.
Aside from the “very madam” look that she channeled through her custom floor-length black shirt dress designed by her good friend JC Buendia, spectators also couldn’t help but gush over the funky short coif with shaved sides that Amy Perez-Castillo rocked that night, which she revealed was inspired by the hairstyle of Australian celebrity model Ruby Rose. Making her appear extra chic was her silver stud earrings and brown leather clutch bag.
Living up to her “Chinita Princess” moniker, Kim Chiu showed up in a lavish and heavily embellished strapless black ball gown, which was part of Michael Cinco’s “The Impalpable Dream of CHRYSALIS Spring-Summer 2018 Collection.” The body-hugging bodice was encrusted with sparkling black and multicolored beads while colorful butterfly patterns and splatters swarmed the voluminous skirt. Adding extra shimmer to her look were her silver jewelries and glittery tips, with her simple makeup and sleek chignon highlighting her natural allure.
Two years since his transfer to ABS-CBN, Ogie Alcasid appeared for the first time on the Ball in 2018. For his red carpet debut, he opted for the classic tuxedo, which matched the simple yet elegant décolletage-baring black dress of his wife Regine Velasquez-Alcasid, who was in attendance, too, prior to her rumored transfer then.
And last, but definitely not the least, was It’s Showtime’s very own oppa Ryan Bang, who swooned us in his all-black ensemble. Ditching the usual crisp button-down shirt, he put on a black long-sleeved shirt instead and accentuated his suit jacket with a bronze brooch and maroon one-peak pocket square. He had his hair brushed up and flashed his handsome smile.
With how they oozed in elegance and finesse in the first-ever ABS-CBN Ball, we couldn’t help but be excited to see how our beloved It’s Showtime family would slay in this year’s edition of one of the most significant and biggest gathering of stars in the country.
Apart from being a star-studded night of glitz and glamour, the upcoming ABS-CBN Ball 2023 will also put the spotlight on the stories of thanksgiving, togetherness, and hope shared by Kapamilya artists, employees, partners, and collaborators, who all share the vision of delivering stories that promote human good to our dear audiences. Moreover, it will also aim to raise funds for the benefit of the ABS-CBN Foundation.
