He may be a scion of one of the most prominent clans in the local entertainment scene, but Daniel Padilla has astoundingly managed to make a name for himself and step out of his famous family’s shadows through his own efforts.

And from being that lanky teenage boy who immediately charmed us with his cuteness, we have witnessed his transformation to becoming one of most talented and biggest artists in the country, who cannot just sweep us off our feet with his swooning looks, but with his impressive acting and singing chops, too!

Aside from his movie and teleserye stints, we’re also able to see his fascinating evolution through his stellar appearances on the Star Magic Ball, which he diligently attended ever since his debut in 2009.

From being an adorable Prince Charming…

Unbeknownst to many, Daniel appeared first on the third staging of the annual gala in 2009 prior to having his acting debut in the youth-oriented weekly series Gimik 2010. He was 14-year-old then and immediately charmed us with his cuteness in a classic tuxedo.

The following year, he seemingly attempted to shake up his look by donning a suit with tropical-themed collar. He continued to make an impression in his attendance in the Star Magic Ball 2011 by strutting on the red carpet in an all-black leather ensemble accentuated with dark grey bowtie and belt, and rocking a textured spiky hair – making him appear like a true rockstar.

…to becoming the swoon-worthy Supreme Royalty!

The year 2012 marked the beginning of exponential changes in DJ’s life under the spotlight. It was when his team-up with former child star Kathryn Bernardo was born, called KathNiel, after working together for the first time in Growing Up. He got to release his self-titled EP (extended play) and starred on his first-ever teleserye and movie opposite Kathryn.

As their tandem garnered unbelievable fame and acclaim, it was not surprising when they took home the Breakout Style Award on the first time they showed up on the glitzy affair together. He was wearing a slim-fit black Nat Manilag peak collar tuxedo with a black formal vest beneath it, which he paired with a slim checkered bowtie and eyeglasses.

He and Kath, who were then known as the Teen King and Queen, got us believe in magic when they won an award again before Star Magic Ball 2013 concluded – the Couple of the Night recognition. Cladded in a dark plaid suit jacket, he kept it open throughout the night not to flex his slender physique, but to expose the 6-button vest that was part of designer Edwin Tan’s creation.

Despite the black, white, and silver motif in 2014, he defied it by appearing in a maroon suit and tie and brandishing a cane to add some vintage vibe to his look. And he didn’t fail to stand out, of course.

Daniel was utterly dapper and luxurious in the all-white Joey Samson ensemble he donned in 2015, which he topped off with his sleek pompadour. Of course, he didn’t forget to put a twist by pinning a black corsage on the peak collar of his blazer. As his squeaky-clean look complemented well with Kath’s exquisiteness that star-studded affair, they were hailed as the Best Dressed Couple that year.

He was less formal, yet superbly hot in his chosen look for the Star Magic Ball 2016 as he rocked the red carpet with a Francis Libran and Joey Samson suit in all-black, leaving his button-up shirt unbuttoned that gave us a little peek on his chest.

And in 2017, he once again stood out in the sea of black and white tuxedos as he opted for an uncoordinated four-piece suit crafted by Paul Lazaro, with its plum-colored velvet blazer and multicolored pocket square that his look totally deviant. He paired it with his round lightly tinted shades and the same well-groomed hair that he wore as Tristan in the KathNiel primetime series La Luna Sangre.

Now that he’s dubbed as the Supreme Idol, we couldn’t wait to see how Daniel Padilla will once again reign on the red carpet of the upcoming ABS-CBN Ball 2023, which will happen on the 30^th of September!

Apart from being a star-studded night of glitz and glamour, the upcoming ABS-CBN Ball 2023 will also put the spotlight on the stories of thanksgiving, togetherness, and hope shared by Kapamilya artists, employees, partners, and collaborators, who all share the vision of delivering stories that promote human good to our dear audiences.
