“So I was the one with all the glory
While you were the one with all the strength
A beautiful face without a name for so long
A beautiful smile to hide the pain”
These lyrics of the 80’s classic Bette Midler hit “Wind Beneath My Wings” probably provide us a clear vision of the relationship between children and their parents.
As their children strive to achieve their ambitions, parents have silently fought tremendous battles just to give them not only their physical needs, but have also equipped them with the strength and motivation in order to keep on pursuing their dreams and staying on top once they get there amid the challenges they have to go through.
While it is believed that having a celebrity offspring is indeed awesome, especially when he/she is among the most popular in the flock, the parents actually have to do a lot of adjustments and hard work before they could ever reach where they are at present and to support and propel them to continue pursuing their dreams.
So this Mother’s Day, let’s pay tribute to the “Wonder Moms” who became the wind beneath the wings of these high-flying Kapamilya celebrities and made them “fly higher than an eagle”.
Mommy Bambi (Enrique Gil)
As she opted to stay away from the spotlight ever since her son Enrique catapulted to stardom, entertainment news site PUSH had the rare opportunity to chat with Mommy Bambi in 2016. In that interview, she gleefully revealed how a huge “Mama’s boy” he has been and how shy he was as a kid. She also recalled the moments when she accompanied or shuttled him to and from his auditions, as well as in the summer workshops of renowned thespian Audie Gemora.
Ever since their dad died in 2008, it has been Mommy Bambi who has been supporting Quen and his siblings Javy and Andie solely. Thus, in order to give back to the hardships she went through and to the all-out support she has given him in his showbiz career (and love life as well!), the Make It With You star disclosed in a media interview that he’s planning to fulfill his mom’s dream of putting up not just one, but five kinds of restaurants.
Mommy Min (Kathryn Bernardo)
She’s undoubtedly one of the most popular moms at present for being the one to give birth and take good care of Queen of Hearts Kathryn Bernardo. Ever since she kicked-off her career in show business 17 years ago, Mommy Min has been very visible behind-the-cam in every project that her beloved bunso takes. With the strong bond that they’re able to establish through the years because of being almost inseparable, the Got To Believe headliner has considered her mom her ultimate best friend, according to her interview with ABS-CBN Lifestyle in 2016.
Mommy Min may appear reserved, but she actually knows how to also clap back at bashers who throw nasty remarks at her when her daughter got paired with Alden Richards last year in the top-grossing film “Hello, Love, Goodbye.”
With all the efforts and sacrifices she has done for her, Kath has been paying those off with all the successes she’s been reaping through the years, as well as by granting her dream house.
Mommy Belle (Andrea Brillantes)
Another mom who’s been visible in her daughter’s career is Andrea’s dutiful and youthful mom Mommy Belle. Since the Kadenang Ginto star is still young, she makes sure to accompany her almost everywhere she goes and in her every gig, as seen in her uploads on Instagram.
And she’s apparently enjoying every moment of it since she actually prayed for her it. During their interview in Magandang Buhay in 2016, Mommy Belle imparted that she specifically asked to be blessed with a child that is as beautiful as a doll and that would become a star, which amazingly happened.

Whenever there’s no work, she makes sure to spend quality time not only with Andrea but to her other kids as well by going on trips and other shenanigans.
Mommy Sandie (Loisa Andalio)
In spite of the fame and fortune her beloved daughter has been reaping ever since her stint in Pinoy Big Brother: All In, Mommy Sandie still couldn’t help herself from getting sad as they only get to see Loisa every Saturday due to her hectic schedule, as what she conveyed in their interview in Magandang Buhay in 2017.

But they didn’t let that refrain them from establishing a tight bond as we found out through Mommy Sandie’s IG that she sometimes willingly serve as the “personal assistant” of the The General’s Daughter actress in some of her media appearances.
Mommy Fatima (Ivana Alawi)
Ivana is indeed one of the biggest names in the industry today, thanks to her Mommy Fatima who never ceased in pushing her to achieve her dream of becoming an ABS-CBN star.
In one of her vlogs uploaded in her YouTube channel last February, she revealed that it was her mom who influenced her to have that dream because of her fascination of Kapamilya shows while they were still based in Bahrain. So when they came here in the Philippines, Mommy Fatima never failed to shower her with encouragement and accompany her in every audition and go-see amidst of all the rejections she received. She never stopped from introducing her to the bosses and talent managers she knew by showing them her photos and Facebook profile, until one of them replied and finally hired her. Thus, she has nothing but gratitude to her Mommy Fatima for not easily giving up on her and helping her realize her dreams.
Apart from supporting the breakout sexy star in her ambition, the proud mommy has also been enthusiastically joining her in her vlog shenanigans that never failed to amuse us.
Mommy Pinty (Toni and Alex Gonzaga)
Aside from being the one to give birth to them, another reason Toni and Alex are very much grateful of their Mommy Pinty is with how she opted to sacrifice her office job as an accountant to become their manager since nobody believed or wanted to manage them then. In their guesting in Magandang Buhay in 2018, the Gonzaga sisters credited her for the success they’ve been reaping at the present.

Mommy Rosario (Vice Ganda)
Along with his continuous rise in the local entertainment scene, Vice Ganda never forgets to take with him his family, especially their Nanay Rosario whom he dearly loves. He wasn’t only able to fulfill his personal ambitions, but of their mother as well, who used to work abroad in order to provide them their needs and a bright future after their father died.
The Unkabogable Star isn’t only able to give her a comfortable life and compel her to already come home, but to also take her to the scenic places she used to only dream of setting her foot before. In 2018, he took to IG to share how proud he was to grant her dream of seeing and touring inside Spain’s famous landmark Sagrada Familia.
Mommy Carmen (Anne Curtis)
With all the achievements Anne has attained ever since she was still a kid, there’s definitely nobody prouder than her “crazy beautiful mama” Carmen. And now that the It’s Showtime host already gave birth to her granddaughter Dahlia Amelie, she’s seemingly the happiest granny in the world as she helps her daughter take good care of her, as seen in one of the clips she shared in which she’s seen grooving to a popular TikTok dance while holding their baby girl in her arms.
Indeed, Anne’s wish five months ago that “my little one will get to experience that same kind of love from her lola” apparently came true!
Mommy Shiela (Heaven Peralejo)
The Pamilya Ko actress wouldn’t be dubbed “Ang Mommy’s Angel ng Makati” during her stint in Pinoy Big Brother Lucky Season 7 for nothing. Apart from her dream of becoming an actress just like her aunts Rica and Paula Peralejo, her reason for joining the reality show was her determination to help her Mommy Shiela, who was then undergoing treatment for uterus cancer. However, it was also her who compelled Heaven to voluntarily exit after the latter decided to be by her mom’s side as she underwent surgery for the lump found in her brain.
In the recent years, their unmistakable closeness which they exhibit on IG absolutely brings delight to their followers and makes them major goals when it comes to mother-daughter relationships.
Mommy Vangie (Gerald Anderson)
Nothing much has been said nor written about Mommy Vangie since she seemingly refuses to meddle with Gerald’s career and she’s also been based in their hometown General Santos City, South Cotabato. But what we’re certain of is her huge affection and support for her son.
In their appearance on Kris TV years ago, she expressed how she didn’t want him to get hurt with controversies, just like any mom. That’s why her furious reaction on the nasty issue involving him was arguably understandable.
Mommy Donna (Inigo Pascual)
Before capturing the hearts of a lot of girls as he continuously rise to stardom, there’s one girl who’s been in love with Inigo ever since he was born – his beloved Mommy Donna. In her surprise guesting in Magandang Buhay in 2018 for the 21st birthday celebration of her unico hijo, she revealed how tough yet enjoyable it was for her to raise him singlehandedly and how their bond quite changed as he grew up, and even some of his many quirks.

Mommy Mary Anne (Bea Alonzo)
Being the only one to raise her and her siblings, Bea is completely proud of her Mommy Mary Anne, who she deems as her “rock” and her “epitome of a strong woman”. Even though she used to be strict and domineering to her when she was still young, as what the seasoned actress disclosed in her Magandang Buhay guesting last 2018, she eventually appreciated it now that she’s already an adult and is very much grateful for that. Thus, in the caption of one of her photos with her mom on IG, she wrote, “Nothing beats the love from your mother.”
Mommy Hearty (Jane de Leon)
Despite her confession that she’s a “Papa’s Girl” in an interview with StarStudio.ph, Jane is apparently close with her Mommy Hearty as well, especially now that there’s only the three of them in the family, including her older brother Francis.
As her entrance to the industry made her anxious of not being able to finish her studies because of having to juggle it with work, it was her mom who encouraged her that she’s going to make it. And since it was her mommy’s dream to see her wear toga, she worked hard in order to accomplish that mission and make her proud as well.
And now that she’s about to fly as the newest Darna, Mommy Hearty must have gone prouder of her!
Mommy Thelma (Maja Salvador)
Being the only one to be by her side growing up, there’s absolutely no wonder why Maja is close with her Mommy Thelma. Thus, when her 50-year-old “Mama Sexy” got married again in December 2016 to her Canadian partner, the The Killer Bride actress wasn’t able to hide her elation while watching her walk down the aisle and seeing how blissful and in love she is.
They might be living miles away from each other at present, but they still make sure to keep their bond tight by visiting one another whenever possible. In fact, Maja treated her to a trip to Amanpulo when she had her vacation her while Mommy Thelma and her husband warmly welcomed her and beau Rambo Nunez when they spent Christmas there in Canada.
Mommy Lorna (Maymay Entrata)
As Mommy Lorna had to work abroad in order to support the needs of their family after her father abandoned them when she was only one year old, Maymay and her brother Vincent was left under the care of her grandparents.
Amidst of all the victories she has attained in her almost three years in the business, the Pinoy Big Brother Lucky Season 7 Big Winner credits all of those to her Mama who unconditionally believed in her capabilities and supported her aspirations. And even though she’s already fulfilled her dream of becoming an artist, she vowed to continue making her proud.
Mommy Jennifer (Jane Oineza)
Even though her showbiz career is faring well, Mommy Jennifer opts not to fully depend on the income Jane has been bringing to their family as she decided to leave and work in Dubai. The young seasoned actress revealed that she was actually against the idea and even tried to persuade her to find a job here to no avail.
Going through her Facebook account, Mommy Jennifer is seemingly doing fine there as she’s able to still find time to roam around and mingle with fellow OFWs during her offs from work.
Mommy Didith (Jessy Mendiola)
She may not be the kind of mom to meddle with the career of her child, but Mommy Didith bravely spoke out in the previous years to tell Jessy’s side of the story in one of the issues she was involved in and to defend from the bashers who threw snide remarks at her in light of a hard-hitting controversy.
While doing so brought her in hot water, she didn’t mind as long as she shows the Sandugo star that she always got her back.
Without the unwavering support and outpouring love of these mommies, we surely wouldn’t have some of the Kapamilya celebrities we fervently admire and look up to today. Happy Mother’s Day!
