Momshies Melai Cantiveros, Karla Estrada, and Jolina Magdangal, together with their loved ones, go around the happiest place on earth and take the fun and insightful conversations to the next level as ABS-CBN’s morning talk show “Magandang Buhay” goes to Hong Kong Disneyland.
Join momshie Mels with Mela, momshie Karls with Lelai and Jordan and momshie Jols with Pele as they experience new shows and attractions as well as countless magical moments of an authentic Disney Christmas in the famous theme park.
As soon as they arrived, the adventure already began as they checked in the Disney Explorers Lodge, Hong Kong Disneyland Resort’s newest hotel. The seven-storey structure has 750 hotel rooms, each featuring an open sea view or a landscape view of one of the four lush themed gardens that exemplify the cultures of Asia, South America, Africa and Oceania.
Disney Explorers Lodge is not only a fantastic getaway for Disney guests, it is also a one-of-a-kind hotel experience for those visiting the cosmopolitan city of Hong Kong. Guests could easily find the fun in the four gardens, all-new restaurants and themed rooms. The best part is, these exotic adventures are just a stone’s throw from downtown, making it convenient for anyone seeking high-quality accommodation with a dash of Disney magic.
According to Karla “We loved our stay here at the Disney Explorers Lodge. Ideal naman talaga na dito na kayo mag check in sa mga hotel ng Hong Kong Disneyland, it’s very convenient dahil you're already here and there's shuttle, free shuttle for every customer. It’s convenient, food is good and then service is good, malapit na kayo sa Disneyland.”
They were then amazed by the glittering decorations and sounds of caroling as Hong Kong Disneyland transforms its Main Street into a Christmas town. The momshies and anakshies went in for a musical extravaganza as they behold the merriment at the inaugural Mickey and Friends Christmastime Ball and sing and dance with well-loved Disney pals — Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy, Goofy, Pluto, Chip ‘n’ Dale — joined by Duffy, ShellieMay, Gelatoni and Stella Lou.
They also got to meet Santa Goofy and send postcards to their family with a one-of-a-kind Santa Goofy Commemorative Stamp by dropping them off in Santa Goofy Holiday Mailbox. To cap off their Disney Christmas experience, the whole gang attended the magical Twilight Snowfall and Tree Lighting Ceremony on Main Street, U.S.A. and witnessed a Christmas performance unlike any other.
“Kakaiba yung feeling nun. Ang ganda pinagkaabalahan talaga nila. Lalo na yung Christmas tree actually yung spirit ng Christmas buhay na buhay,” Karla shared.
“Ang sarap kasi parang totoo talaga eh. Tapos meron pang para ka talagang nasa white Christmas, yung may Christmas songs,” added Jolina.
“Yung nakikita mo sa tv, na mga snow snow para ka talagang nandun tapos pag tumingin ka sa lights,” Melai said.
From a magical Christmas town, the momshies and anakshies went to galaxy far, far away and tried HK Disneyland’s newest attraction, Star Wars: Tomorrowland Takeover, where they personally met Captain Phasma, the Stormtrooper, BB-8, and Chewbacca.
The kids also became Jedi Knights, donned the Jedi robes and faced off the Star Wars villains in in Jedi Training: Trials of the Temple.
Jolina shared how happy she was during the Jedi training because it’s the first time her son Pele joined an activity like that.
“First time ko ipasali si Pele sa ganun eh kaya natuwa ako. Akala ko talaga nahihiya tumatakbo sa akin, siguro pag nandun yung mga barkada niya”
Karla said “Malaking bagay na nandito tayo sa Hong Kong Disneyland kasi iba sa kanila yun eh. It’s really for kids very entertaining actually for the entire family.”
The adventure never really stops at HK Disneyland as the “Magandang Buhay” hosts embarked in a once in a lifetime Iron Man Experience, the first-ever Marvel-themed ride any Disney Parks around the world.
They went aboard the Iron Wing Flight Vehicle. Wearing a pair of StarkVision glasses, they flew around Hong Kong with Iron Man and saved the city from the evil forces of Hydra via an intense multi-sensory motion experience. Capping off the journey is the Heroic Encounter with Iron Man himself.
“Nag enjoy talaga ako sa Iron Man. Parang ikaw talaga sinesave ni Iron Man, naging super hero ka na rin. At dahil dun sa experience na nakita ko parang mas na-excite pa ko i-explore ang Hong Kong, nakikita ko dun sa Iron Man experience ang buong Hong Kong kaya nga talaga maeenganyo ka.” Melai said.
“Magandang Buhay” won’t be complete without the momshies talking to interesting guests. Get to know husband and wife, Irish and Gisele Abejero, who both used their passion in dancing to make it in Hong Kong Disneyland. Irish was one of the pioneers in Golden Mickeys. Little did he know that it is also in Disneyland where he would meet the love of his life, Gisele. How did their love story unfolded in HK Disneyland?
Like Gisele and Irish, Marvin also followed his dream to be a performer. He was part of the Power Dance Company, the same group Gisele belonged to. He is very thankful to his family who showed never-ending support and believed in him from the start of his journey. Now, he still performs at Disneyland but is now married with two kids. His family, however, is currently based in Singapore. How can popshie Marvin endure being away from his family?
Lastly, for Raki Vega, getting to Disneyland was not part of her plans. It just so happened that she and her husband took a side trip in Hong Kong Disneyland, where they watched a Golden Mickeys show. From then on, she got inspired from it. Luckily, someone told her that Hong Kong Disneyland opened for auditions. What’s the story behind her Hong Kong Disneyland journey?
Since this is a magical experience for them, the momshies have different “pulot” or learning during the trip.
Aside from facing her fear of heights, Momshie Melai mentioned that her first trip in Hong Kong Disneyland is truly unforgettable because she was able to spend more time with her eldest daughter, Mela who is a “Papa’s girl.
For Jolina, she is very happy that she discovered a lot about her son Pele. She mentioned that her son usually gets shy with other people, but in Hong Kong Disneyland, she saw Pele actively performing during some of the activities.
As for Karla, she shared that she’s so happy to see her nephew, Jordan well-disciplined during the whole trip. She also mentioned how worthy it is for families to spend their holiday vacation at Hong Kong Disneyland Resort.
