One artist very much synonymous to ABS-CBN is teleserye royalty Judy Ann Santos, who over the years starred in the most unforgettable Kapamilya teleseryes to date.
Thus, who can better exemplify and express the Kapamilya Yuletide spirit than her, who has appeared in the most ABS-CBN Christmas station IDs since its inception in 2002.
We witnessed how she evolved in the network’s Christmas Station IDs through the years.
During the tradition kick-off in 2002, she greeted us a “Merry Christmas” written in a sketchpad, which can be assumed was drawn by one of the kids she was mingling with. Take note, she’s sporting the trendy short bob then!
She had the same coif in the next year, but this time, she was sharing a good laugh and coffee with her Basta’t Kasama Kita leading man Robin Padilla during their break.
In 2006, Juday proved that she belongs to the elite circle of the industry as she sat alongside powerhouse actors Susan Roces, Dolphy, and Maricel Soriano while attending a mass. They even joined them as they cheerfully went out of the church afterwards.
A year after, she was spotted distributing bowls of soup to the victims of calamities with Sharon Cuneta, whom she considers as her ate in showbiz, during a made-up Sagip Kapamilya relief operations.
Certainly, Yuletide celebrations have changed for her and her family since she became a celebrity. But the Bet on Your Baby host imparted on the “May Katuparan ang Hiling sa Kapamilyang Kapiling” video that the real spirit of the season for them remains – which is sharing.
“We make it a point na nakita namin 'yong mga bata na naeenjoy nila 'yong Pasko. We tell them na ‘you share your blessings’,” she stated.
After tying the knot with husband Ryan Agoncillo, whom she co-starred with in the comedy sitcom George and Cecil, she graced the iconic “Bro, Ikaw Ang Star ng Pasko” as she sang along with a bunch of ordinary people.
It was only in 2011 when Juday reappeared in the holiday tradition leaving everyone astonished with her glow, as if she didn’t gave birth to Lucho in the previous year. In the next ABS-CBN Christmas station ID, she was the first artist seen in the “Lumiliwanag ang Mundo sa Kwento ng Pasko”.
Having portrayed a battered wife in her teleserye Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala, the 39-year-old actress had been pining to spend time with the victims of violence. Her wish was granted as she was able to serve merienda and treat the women of the Women’s Crisis Center from Our Lady of Victory Chapel in Malabon to basic self-defense lessons with her personal instructor. This momentous event was shown in the 2013 Christmas station ID “Magkasama Tayo sa Kwento ng Pasko”.
With the theme, “Thank You ang Babait Ninyo”, in 2014, she didn’t forget to express her gratitude to the two women who took care of her and been with her since Day One – her Mommy Carol and Nanay Binay, her long-time nanny.
In 2015, she joined prime talents Sharon Cuneta and Kris Aquino in reiterating the real essence of Christmas and believing in the capabilities and strength of the Filipinos in “Thank You for the Love.”
And in the latest Christmas station ID, she’s seen singing the #justLOVE anthem through sign language, together with the students of Philippine School for the Deaf in Pasay City.
She may not be in all 16 Christmas station IDs in the annual tradition, but her every appearance is a much-anticipated and never fails to mesmerize us.
