With critically-acclaimed and well-loved teleseryes under his belt, including his current top-rater FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano, Coco Martin is hailed as the King of Primetime Teleseryes.
Being one of the premier talents of the network, his roles on the ABS-CBN Christmas Station IDs have been one of the things his fans have been looking forward to every year.
We first spotted him clad in a red long-sleeved shirt and white coat while singing along and holding a star lamp when he graced the "Bro, Ikaw ang Star ng Pasko" music video in 2009. Since then, the 37-year-old actor has always been present in the annual tradition.
From the simple and very short stints, his succeeding appearances has grown more significant and heartwarming.
Fervent followers of his team-up with Julia Montes were all thrilled and delighted with the sight of them together in the "Da Best ang Pasko ng Pilipino" Station ID in 2011.
In the following years, we were able to see his charitable and endearing side as he showcased it in his next Christmas Station ID appearances.
For the 2012 Christmas Station ID “Lumiliwanag ang Mundo sa Kuwento ng Pasko”, Coco was spotted handing a huge lantern to a certain woman and reminded us that in demonstrating kindness, it’s possible for us to help other Kapamilyas.
A year after, a clip of him enthusiastically giving high fives to a young fan during the Grand Kapamilya Fair staged earlier that year was included in the 2013 station ID “Magkasama Tayo sa Kuwento ng Pasko”.
In "Thank You ang Babait Ninyo" in 2014, Coco took the chance to tell his grandmother how grateful he is to her for being his mom ever since he was young and being an irreplaceable blessing to his life.
We witnessed how he and his FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano co-stars exemplified their sincerest gratitude and overwhelming support to the valiant soldiers based at Camp Capinpin, Tanay, Rizal in the 2015 holiday station ID “Thank You for the Love” by giving each of them a new pair of combat shoes treating them to a sumptuous feast ala-boodle fight. This troop initiated the Project Shoe Box, a campaign of the Philippine Army that aimed to help less fortunate kids by bestowing them school supplies contained in shoe boxes.
His being a firm champion of education and devotion to children were exposed in 2016 as the clip of him and his team distributing school supplies and snacks to less fortunate schoolchildren, was included in the “Isang Pamilya Tayo Ngayong Pasko” campaign.
Last year, it was not only he who reminded us to “Just Love Ngayong Christmas”, but the cast and crew of FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano as well, as they all got involved various outreach activities and genuinely showed their affection to the receivers of their gifts.
And this 2018, he’s among the stars to remind us that love, hope, and joy are what we bring to our families as he was chosen to be one of the singers of “Family is Love”. Throughout the video, he could be spotted embracing his best friend Vice Ganda and fellow actor Piolo Pascual and mingling with Ms. Susan Roces and ABS-CBN Chief Content Officer Charo Santos-Concio.
Apart from being an exceptional actor and creative lead, Coco has become an inspiring idol to many because of his humility, generosity, and sincerity. What he had showed us on ABS-CBN Christmas Station IDs truly reflects to what he also does in real life. A big star with a big heart indeed.
