With ABS-CBN’s Christmas station ID this year, “Just Love Ngayong Pasko,” soon to be aired, we are surely anticipating the barrage of Kapamilya stars who will appear on it.
A good number of solid Kapamilya fans have also closely tracked not only if all the network artists are in the station ID, or if all shows were represented, but also who among them was first or last to appear in the meaningful Christmas video.
Let’s take a look at those centerpiece stars who started and ended these Christmas station IDs to further inspire us with the Kapamilya Yuletide messages through the years.
The video opened by previewing three of the featured stories – grade school student Ariel Barrion’s daily trail going to school, Paralympic swimmer Arnel Aba, and 2016 Olympic gold medalist Hidilyn Diaz. Singing the introductory part of “Isang Pamilya Tayo Ngayong Pasko”, Sharon Cuneta was the first celebrity to appear. Last seen was Bea Alonzo beaming with the big bosses.

A waving and smiling Piolo Pascual clad in a pair of football jersey welcomed us to the “Thank You for the Love” campaign video, which aims to thank the Filipinos who are sacrificing a portion of their lives for their fellowmen and are inspiring many of us through their heartfelt stories. ABS-CBN’s President and CEO then, Ms. Charo Santos-Concio concluded it by reminding us, “Basta’t tayo ay sama-sama, maraming munting tagumpay.”

With a series of clips showing random individuals from different parts of the country expressing their gratitude towards the people who became blessings in their lives, we got a hint that it would be all about appreciation. For “Thank You, Ang Babait Ninyo”, it was Ma’am Charo who introduced and concluded the video by uttering wise words and thanking everyone who incessantly believes to the kindness of Filipinos.

After teasing three of the featured true-to-life tales of hardworking Pinoys across the globe, Broadway Diva Lea Salonga struts through a busy street in New York City as she sings the first stanza of that year’s yuletide hymn “Magkasama Tayo sa Kwento ng Pasko”. Before the clips of Overseas Filipino Workers from around the world and the ABS-CBN community were flashed, heartthrob Piolo Pascual was seen mingling with the OFWs in Hong Kong.

Inspired by the real events during and after the height of Habagat and Typhoon Sendong, “Lumiliwanag ang Mundo sa Kwento ng Pasko” started with a little girl sharing in her mother tongue the devastating tragedy that killed some members of her family. Premier actress Judy Ann Santos’ glistening smile sets the positive vibe of the whole video while Queen of Talk Kris Aquino’s smile shines bright like the glowing Christmas lanterns she and the ensemble are holding.

Showing how Filipinos all over the world are celebrating the merriest season, “Da Best ang Pasko ng Pilipino” implies that despite being separated by long distances, having a happy and complete Christmas is still possible through technology. Playing the piano and singing the tune, Filipino-Canadian YouTube sensation Maria Aragon opened the video campaign. Saving the best for last is Ma’am Charo’s ever-radiant beauty.

Seeing Piolo Pascual’s ageless look seems to be enough for us to assume that “Ngayong Pasko Magniningning ang Pilipino” would be absolutely good. Well, it was indeed great, especially with the ABS-CBN President Charo Santos-Concio passionately greeting a young boy who approached her in the end.

Reminding us that “Dumaan man sa malakas na alon, lahat tayo’y makakaahon”, the CSID that year started off with a young boy pulling strings of lanterns. As one of the singers of “Bro, Ikaw ang Star ng Pasko”, Piolo Pascual appeared first succeeded by KC Concepcion. His previous loveateam partner Judy Ann Santos was last.

Three Christmas candles in different sizes captured our eyes with former child star Makisig Morales voicing over “Ang Pasko ay panahon ng mga pangarap” as he draw a star. After Ma’am Charo explained the real meaning of Christmas for her, some stars were spotted shooting up the stars they drew, and last of them were Derek Ramsay, Diether Ocampo, Pokwang, Mariel Rodriguez and Kristine Hermosa.

Sunrises signify new beginnings, thus the “Walang Mag-iisa Ngayong Pasko” CSID commenced with a woman opening the window of her abode to catch the morning sun. Sitting comfortably on a couch side by side, veteran artists Gloria Romero, Dolphy, and Susan Roces told the spectators that no one would be alone on the yuletide season since we are one family. This was backed by Ma’am Charo as she uttered the parting words.

An upbeat theme plus an invigorating corresponding video that shows how Filipinos celebrate Christmas in different ways is such as good formula, making the “Angat ang Ligaya ng Pasko” station ID one of the most remarkable. It opened with a group of commuters embarking on a jeepney, two of those are comedian Bentong and hottie Derek Ramsay.
Presenting the common sights during this joyous season, it ended through a Simbang Gabi scene wherein Dolphy, Judy Ann Santos, Susan Roces, and Maricel Soriano are seen exiting the church with the other throngs of artists.

Surprisingly, not a single artist is present in the almost two-minute campaign video. It only displays random acts of kindness as executed by ordinary people while the humming of “Himig ng Pasko” plays in the background.

Singing the first stanza of “Sabay Tayo, Kapamilya”, Concert King Martin Nievera appears after the scene of random people cheerfully welcoming their loved ones in an airport was flashed. The ASAP champions who also lent their voices for that year’s theme song.

The first CSID to have a spoken message instead of a lively song, the King of Comedy Dolphy is heard all throughout the video us he explains the true essence of the special day. Demonstrating the usual preparations taken every year, the headliners of the comedy sketch show Bida si Mister, Bida si Misis Maricel Soriano and Cesar Montano are seen having a fun time decorating their Christmas tree in the first few frames. Dolphy appeared in the last frame, greeting everyone “Maligayang Pasko, Kapamilya” then blowing a kiss.

In the first Christmas station ID of ABS-CBN, “Isang Pamilya, Isang Puso Ngayong Pasko” we see first artists to emerge were Allyson Lualhati, comedians Bentong and Gary Lim and the subsequent appearances of the network’s big stars started this fun-filled, meaningful, season-honoring yearly tradition. In the end, the Kapamilya network’s legendary icon, Comedy King Dolphy enthusiastically let the huge star lantern he’s holding to fly up at the peak of the tall Christmas tree.
