Before becoming the hunk and effective villain we know him today, his career was actually jump started by a heart-warming ad.
“Kung saan ka masaya ti suportahan ta ka.” Do you still remember this line from the classic 2001 commercial of a telephone company? It told the story of a son who was studying in Manila and wanted to pursue Fine Arts instead of becoming a doctor like his father in Iloilo. This resonated with many college students who hoped to follow their dreams and receive their parents’ support. This commercial was also what started it all for Christian Vazquez.
That same year, he was launched as an actor by the Kapamilya Network with a role on the teleserye Sa Dulo Ng Walang Hanggan.
In 2006, Christian became one of Kuya’s housemates for Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Edition 1. He was evicted early on from the reality show, but the moment he stepped outside the House, it was business as usual for the actor.
He continued to earn experience and became part some of the biggest series including the fantaserye Lobo and its second installment Imortal. He also played the father of Toni Gonzaga in Kokey @ Ako who was abducted by aliens. Add to his resume, Budoy which made waves for highlighting the life of someone mentally challenged.
By 2013, Christian had gained more popularity after bagging the antagonist role in Dugong Buhay as Enrique de Lara, the father of on-screen brothers Ejay Falcon and Arjo Atayde. But it was in 2015’s Nasaan Ka Nang Kailangan Kita that showcased his brilliance as an actor. Here he portrayed Leandro Natividad who was caught up between his wife Vina Morales and his boss Denise Laurel.
On a roll, next up on his agenda was a one of the biggest primetime series, FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano. During the hit series’ first year on air, Christian appeared in a number of episodes as Benedicto Vergel, an honest father who received help from Cardo (Coco Martin) to save his daughter.
In his biggest break to date, who could forget his two characters on the intense drama Wildflower. Fans of the memorable show first met him as Dante Cruz, the father of the iconic Lily Cruz (Maja Salvador). A good-natured father and lawyer who happens to be the twin brother of Damian, the real Jaguar.
Successfully jumping between being a good guy and a bad guy, Christian then brought to life Bagani’s Dakim from the dessert. He was the traitor that killed Lakas’ (Enrique Gil) father Agos and gained leadership of their region. Dakim was initially thought to be dead after being fatally wounded by Ganda (Liza Soberano). It was later on revealed, however, that he managed to escape the afterlife by becoming a werewolf. Grateful for this second lease, he decided to become an ally of Baganis and even helped rescue Kataw (Ahron Villena) and Makiling (Maricar Reyes).
His work speaks for itself. Whether he’s playing a friend or foe, Christian has proven that he can transform into whatever his role requires in order to offer fans a convincing performance. And with Bagani coming to its conclusion, there’s already another series lined up for the actor. Are you ready for Christian Vazquez in Ngayon at Kailanman?
