We bet our previous gallery of photos from the first ever Star Magic Ball in 2007 got you in a nostalgic mood. Why don’t we continue the time machine ride? This time, we’re throwing it back to 2008, when the second Ball was held at the Edsa Shangri-La in celebration of Star Magic’s 16th anniversary.

Besides the resplendent evening looks, one eye-catching element made the Star Magic Ball 2008 extra memorable: the chemistry exuded by the reel and real-life couples who walked the red carpet and danced the night away.

While these pairs didn’t have fairytale endings, for the sake of reminiscing, we included their best shots in this album. We begin with Kim Chiu and Gerald Anderson, who came to the masquerade-themed party in matching black ensembles. Kim styled her hair with big curls, and bangs reminiscent of her character, Jasmine Estopacio, in the telserye “My Girl,” which aired in that same year.

Anne Curtis and Sam Milby were awarded “Sparkling Couple of the Night.” Anne put a refreshing spin on Audrey Hepburn’s iconic fashion style, wearing a white gown with black lace elements. Sam dressed in a classic black suit and white inner top to complement his lovely partner’s OOTN.

A year since becoming a bonafide Kapamilya, Angel Locsin made her Star Magic Ball debut in an elegant black mermaid gown. She was escorted by Luis Manzano.

Estranged couple Claudine Barretto and Raymart Santiago’s appearance at the event had the press and onlookers astonished. From the moment they alight from their luxury car up to how they partied all the way with their colleagues, the two absolutely made a good impression. The Optimum Star turned heads in a red column gown with sparkly embellishments.

This year, the ABS-CBN Ball embarks on a new chapter that celebrates stories of gratitude and togetherness shared by the whole Kapamilya community – artists, employees, and collaborators.
