Prior to the advancement of technology, it was only through watching live shows, joining television contests, or chance encounters where ordinary people could see and mingle with famous personalities.
Back then, fan girls/boys, persons who possess intense admiration towards an artist or works of art, needed to score tickets, line up in long queues, or fit themselves in a huge throng if they really wanted to catch a glimpse of their idols. And if they wanted to know the latest updates, gossips, and/or the personal lives of their favorite celebrities, they should read newspapers/magazines or watch talk and lifestyle programs.
Well, those are still done up to now, but the emergence of smartphones and different social media apps have made the world smaller and more accessible to everyone. They have enabled us to connect and communicate not only with the ordinary users, but even with celebrities, in just a few clicks and swipes. And one of them is Twitter.
As the online news and social networking service was launched 12 years ago, and reached its popularity in the Philippines around 2009 to 2010, it has fulfilled our far-fetched dream of being able to interact with our beloved celebs and other illustrious and revered personalities come true through directly tweeting them or commenting on their tweets.
But, have you ever wondered on what could be the very first Twitter post of some of our well-loved local artists? We delved into their hundreds to thousands of tweets in order to find out!
Some of them shared their random thoughts and musings, impressions on Twitter, quotable quotes, and whatever they do or keeps them occupied at that certain moment.
Others tagged someone to thank him/her for introducing them to Twitter, to ask him/her how to utilize it since they’re newbies, or to simply tell them random stuff.
Meanwhile, majority of them simply announced that they’ve just created their official account then greeted the Twittizens in their amusing ways.
Which of these first tweets were you able to like, respond on, or retweet? Which among them is the most hilarious or wittiest?
