Our television viewing habit is not complete without seeing them on our screens as they take on their respective roles in the Kapamilya programs they currently star in. And because of their amazing and incredible performances in their past and/or on-going remarkable stints, they’re able to create their mark in the local entertainment scene and achieve the success and fame they are savoring at the present.
But as they took the journey and the leap of faith towards where they are right now, there are people dear to them who relentlessly loved and supported them along the way, whatever it would take – and one of them are their respective affectionate and supportive mothers.
Since the Mother’s Day celebration for this year is just around the corner, let’s pay tribute to the strong women who gave birth, to nurtured, took care of, and guided our favorite Kapamilya stars and who serve as their ultimate inspiration and source of strength in everything that they do.
RK Bagatsing with Mommy Marilou
As he catapulted to stardom through his brilliant performance in the 2017 revenge drama Wildflower, RK didn’t not forget to thank his number one fan who fervently supports him by not missing an episode of the series on its television broadcast and watching each episode again online – his Mommy Marilou. He also went to express via a poignant Instagram post how he truly appreciates her efforts of flooding him with text messages just to remind him to take his vitamins and get enough rest.
We wonder if Mommy Marilou still does these now that he touches hearts as Michael in the daytime series Nang Ngumiti Ang Langit.
Enzo Pineda with Mommy Macy
Going through his IG account, it’s obvious how Nang Ngumiti Ang Langit actor wants to keep his personal life away from the limelight as long as he could by refraining to post photos of his loved-ones. But we were still able to obtain an adorable photo of him with his family, thanks to his social media-savvy mom, Mommy Macy.
Enzo might have not imparted much about his relationship with his mom, but we figured out that they are very close when he told the momshies of Magandang Buhay that it was she who first found out about his plans of joining a reality talent show which opened the door for him to show business.
Dimples Romana with Mommy Virgie
Aside from being a versatile seasoned actress, Dimples is also known for being a role model when it comes to being a housewife and a mom. But unlike acting that could be honed by enrolling in workshops, she didn’t simply develop the know-hows and skills needed to be a mom all by herself as she owes everything to her Mommy Virgie who singlehandedly raised them after the untimely demise of their dad may years ago. Due to the sacrifices and hardships she had to do and overcome to provide the needs of their family, Mommy Virgie has stood as the Kadenang Ginto star’s ultimate inspiration ever since.
Thus, in order to give back to her, Dimples surprised her and the other members of their family by bestowing her the house she’s dreaming to have.
Andrea Brillantes with Mommy Belle
Unbeknownst to us, Andrea’s supermama Mommy Belle has been so supportive of her when it comes to pursuing a career in the entertainment scene even before she was born. In her appearance in Magandang Buhay three years ago, Mommy Belle confessed that while she was still pregnant with her, she specifically prayed to God to give her a mestiza, doll-like, and ‘star’ daughter, which the heavens granted as the teen actress grew up to be a beautiful and talented girl.
She urged her to improve her skills in modelling at a tender age of three years old and later on encouraged her to enter the local entertainment scene as a child star. She might be called a stage mother, but we think that’s just fine because just look at how Andrea slays in her every on-screen performance, especially in her current role as the antagonist Marga in Kadenang Ginto.
Albie Casino with Mommy Rina
The beginning of his journey in show business might be a rocky because of the controversies he had to endure, but Albie was able to conquer it through the undying support of his family who never left his side during those trying times. Although it was indeed difficult for her to keep mum about the issue, Mommy Rina mustered unbelievable strength to not break their silence until the truth eventually prevailed.
However, it was revealed through her guesting in Magandang Buhay that it was not the toughest challenge she’d been through as she suffered from two miscarriages and ‘spotting’ before Albie was born. If not for the strength and faith exhibited by Mommy Rina we might not be able to see Albie’s promising acting prowess again and how he bounced back as Lucas in the afternoon drama Precious
Hearts Romances Presents: Los Bastardos.
Joseph Marco with Mommy Darlene
He may have a brawny bod, but Joseph, who is a self-confessed “Mama’s Boy”, transforms into a delicate child when it comes to her beloved ‘number one girl’ Mommy Darlene.
In their appearance on Magandang Buhay together last year, he wasn’t able to hold back his emotions as he uttered his gratitude for all the sacrifices she did and all the hardships she went through just to raise them well. He thanked her for being selfless in choosing to leave her dream job as a model in order to be a full-time housewife and mom to them and for her unconditional love for him in spite of the mistakes he did in the past. The Los Bastardos star jestingly revealed that his wish to give back to his parents is the real reason why doesn’t want to get married yet.
Robi Domingo with Mommy Mary Ann
Not much has been actually written about Robi’s relationship with her mom, but we found out through one of his entries as an #ABSCBNLifestyleInspo is that he got strict parents and lived in a disciplined household. Since both his parents are doctors, with his Daddy Boy as laparoscopic surgeon while his Mommy Mary Ann is a pediatrician, people around them expected him to be one as well and he even dreamt of becoming one when he was still a kid. However, things changed when he reached adulthood and realized that his passion to cure sick people faded and his heart now beats for hosting, a career that came unexpectedly. Thankfully, his family is okay with his decision to stop studying medicine for the meantime and pursue hosting.
At present, he’s one of the most sought-after presenters in the country and serves as a host to various programs of the Kapamilya network.
Toni & Alex Gonzaga with Mommy Pinty
These awesome sissums consider their Mommy Pinty as the ultimate driving force of their lives, especially of their careers. In one of their interviews last year in Magandang Buhay, Toni tearfully expressed how grateful she is to her for not only being their doting mom, but also for being their hands-on talent manager ever since. She shared that because of her unwavering love and support for them, Mommy Pinty decided to quit her office job and be their full-time personal assistant, driver, and manager despite having no knowledge about show business.
At present, she doesn’t only take care of the family and her daughters’ careers, but keeps herself busy as well in running their other ventures and even amuse the viewers with her stints in some of Alex’s vlogs.
JC de Vera with Mommy Carmen
JC may have been keeping his personal life low-key, but he’s still generous enough to give us glimpses of his happy family. Despite already having a family of his own, he has seemingly kept a tight bond with his beautiful Mommy Carmen, who his daughter Baby Lana refers to as her “Wawa”.
On her birthday last year, the The General’s Daughter lead actor posted a compilation of her photos with family members and affixed it with a short message for her that read, “To our dear Wawa! Happy Happy Birthday! Know that We love you and You're the greatest wawa of all time. We wish you more happiness in life! More energy and Good health.” Sweet!
Bela Padilla with Mommy Meg
Since her parents got separated when she was still young, Bela grew up under the tender loving care of her Mommy Meg. In her Magandang Buhay guesting in July 2018, she enthusiastically reminisced the fun moments they shared together, such as assisting her every time she cooks.
The Sino Ang Maysala? Mea Culpa also imparted how she appreciates how Mommy Meg helped her handle her finances, especially when she started working, and how their set-up in the house didn’t change even though she’s already the breadwinner.
Jodi Sta. Maria with Mommy Ditas
Jodi is one of the biggest stars, who in spite of the fame she’s savoring has remained her personal life really private, even in her Instagram account. In fact, it was only recently when she introduced her whole family on social media through a poignant appreciation post.
However, the Sino Ang Maysala? Mea Culpa star has been mentioning in her interviews how her mom has been very much supportive for her, especially when she was still starting in show business. Her Mommy Ditas was actually the one who constantly accompanied her in her go-sees and auditions before and perhaps one of her partners in raising her unico hijo Thirdy as a single mom.
Regine Velasquez-Alcasid with Mommy V
Watching their Magandang Buhay interview together last year was indeed a delight as we saw how tightly bonded Regine is with her Mommy V (a.k.a. Mommy Teresita). It was also through that episode when we found out to whom our beloved Asia’s Songbird and now Idol Philippines judge and ASAP Natin ‘To mainstay possibly inherited her formidable singing prowess and her unmistakable comedic flair as they sang a duet of her favorite song and recalled some of their fondest memories and brandished their innate sense of humor.
On that same episode, Regine expressed how much she truly admires Mommy V’s strong personality and strength, particularly that time when their patriarch, Mang Gerry, died.
Moira Dela Torre with Mommy Raquel
With her parents’ separation when he was only three, Moira grew up under the custody of her Mommy Raquel. In her interview in Magandang Buhay in 2017, she admitted being so stubborn in her younger years, that’s why she’s very grateful for everything that she did in order to raise her well. She also performed one of her compositions and dedicated it to her.
Although Moira is now starting to build her own family after tying the knot with her husband Jason, it’s admirable how the songstress and Idol Philippines judge is able to keep her closeness with her Mommy Raquel.
Grae Fernandez with Mommy Melissa
Seemingly, nothing is written yet about Grae relationship with his Mommy Melissa, so we kind of stalked their personal IG accounts and discovered how well-bonded they are! The two are seemed to inseparable whenever they are together and they apparently both love to eat as they are spotted pigging out in most of their pictures together. His parents are no longer together, but the Hiwaga ng Kambat star has incredibly remained a nice, handsome, and talented young lad.
Luis Manzano with Mommy Vilma
Even though they are in the same industry, it’s only seldom for us to see Luis and Mommy Vilma together on-screen or even in social media posts for we only see them reunite on television usually when the Minute To Win It host celebrates his birthday. But in spite of their hectic schedules, they are still able to maintain their admirable closeness as what the stories about her son that she shared during her appearance in Magandang Buhay in 2017. Despite this closeness, she said that she never meddled with his affairs, especially in the romantic ones, and expressed how she truly accepts Jessy as his girlfriend.
Vice Ganda and Mommy Rosario
There’s no denying that Vice Ganda is indeed one of the most influential and most popular celebrities we have in the country. But beneath the fame and fortune enshrouding him at the present is a son who yearns to spend more time with and to grant the wishes of his ageing mom who raised them singlehandedly after getting widowed.
Thus, whenever his hectic schedule permits, he always makes sure to bond with her Nanay Rosario by taking her to out-of-town and out-of-the-country escapades. Just last December 2018, he was able to fulfill her longtime dream of visiting the famous landmark Sagrada Familia in Spain, which he considered as his biggest achievement to date.
As we assume that nothing could stop the Unkabogable Star from performing his sworn duty of spreading good vibes and happiness to the madlang people. He proved us wrong after telling the momshies of Magandang Buhay two years ago that by the time comes that he would fail to see the gleaming smiles of his beloved Mommy Rosario, he might not be able to do his job again.
James Reid and Mommy Ella
Before Nadine Lustre, another woman dear to James Reid has been taking care of him and loving him ever since he was born – his beloved Mommy Ella.
Despite not spending most of his life with his mom, since she was based in Scotland while he and his dad and siblings were living in Australia, the Idol Philippines judge was still to create a strong, affectionate connection with her. As many of his followers out there claim that they are his number one fans, Mommy Ella is indeed the real one as she tries her best to be present in his shows in and out of the country.
Aside from giving birth to him, we should also be very thankful to her supportive mom for passing on to him her singing and dancing prowess, her athletic ability, and her good looks as well, as what he divulged in an interview three years ago.
Yassi Pressman and Mommy Belcy
It may be her Daddy Ronnie who we see more often with her and her younger sister Issa on their TV appearances and social media posts, but FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano leading lady has also fostered rapport with their groovy Mommy Belcy. Despite not being able to spend most of their lives together, it’s delightful to see pictures of them together enjoying each other’s company.
These stars only remind us that amidst the successful and busy lives we, grown-up kids, have at the present, we should never forget to thank the person who has been loving and supporting us unconditionally, who taught us the essential things in life, and who first believed in our capabilities and gave us overflowing encouragement – our beloved mothers!
Happy Mother’s Day!
