Definitely, an utter shock, surprising twist in the scheme of things.
Yet, in the ABS-CBN Ball 2019, anything can happen—especially these unexpected pairings that could raise eyebrows, thrill onlookers, and of course create widespread buzz. But all of these are for the greater good—as their appearances would add prominence and interest to the Ball, which is for the benefit of Bantay Edukasyon of Bantay Bata 163.
Adding much excitement to the occasion, here are the unexpected pairings that absolutely stole the show and made jaw drops in the ABS-CBN Ball 2019.
Alora Sasam and Fifth Solomon
With wide smiles on their faces, Alora and Fifth beamingly walked the red carpet together. Alora is completely elegant on her black Filipiniana top with a royal blue skirt designed with ethnic linings. On her side, Fifth wore a white barong that is tucked in on his high-waist black slacks.
Barbie Imperial and Arron Villaflor
Rather than having the usual butterfly sleeves, Barbie sparkled and showed off her shoulders on her fully beaded red Filipiniana with a shawl. Arron paired her wearing a white polo on an embroidered barong coat.
Kristel Fulgar and CJ Navato
Goin’ Bulilit graduates Kristel and CJ reunite on the red carpet. Together, they exuded elegance. The pastel colored rose embroideries on her butterfly sleeves perfected Kristel’s black Filipiniana, while CJ’s closed neck white polo underneath his black suit is truly stylish.
Karla Estrada and Rommel Padilla
Pink and black are the matching colors that the ex-couple Karla and Rommel had as they walked the red carpet together. The pink overlay shawl made the Magandang Buhay momshie’s black dress even more fabulous, while Rommel’s fully buttoned pink and blue pastel colored barong is certainly fashionable.
Jolina Magdangal and Marvin Agustin
90’s iconic love team of Marvin and Jolina has spread ‘kilig’ on their surprising team up on the red carpet of this year’s ball. Jolina is ethereal on her red Filipiniana and Marvin perfectly paired her with his white barong Tagalog.
Rufa Mae Quinto and Raymond Bagatsing
Another extremely surprising pairing on the red carpet is the tandem of sexy comedian Rufa Mae and “Quezon’s Game” lead star Raymond. Rufa looked glamorously hot on her pink long dress, which butterfly sleeves was filled with pink pearls. Meanwhile, Raymond exhibited power on his black polo that is topped with a printed gold coat.
Melai Cantiveros and Robi Domingo
Pinoy Big Brother co-hosts Melai and Robi extended their ‘kulitan’ moments to the ball’s red carpet. They came on a white and platinum number. Melai glowed on her silky white Filipiniana and Robi’s platinum colored barong and polo with tie outfit complemented his partner’s outfit.
Stephen Robles and Jin Macapagal
It’s Showtime dancer Stephen and Bidaman grand winner Jin came in together unpredictably. They both went exceedingly cultural as Stephen walked on her mustard yellow basket-like woven dress and Jin on his black and white ethnic printed barong.
Ana Ramsey and Zeus Collins
Zeus surely left everyone in shock as he arrived with Star Music artist Ana on the red carpet. His white tasseled polo underneath and open embroidered barong coat gave a manly aura, a wonderful match for Ana’s strong look, wearing a fully beaded, circle patterned long sleeved green ball gown.
Such surprises aren’t new to the previous stagings of the Ball, which draw immense following worldwide. And this year as we can see, we were certainly in for more of these incredible appearances on the Red Carpet.
