As we honor those who have passed on, we can’t deny that we in the realm of the living have those moments we felt like dying in either the sadness we felt or the desires we wished and hoped for.
Our Kapamilya teleseryes have accurately depicted them with characters who felt they would “die” yearning for the love, care, or attention from loved ones leading to desperate or despicable acts, or kilig moments to get the favor of a crush, or infuriating instances when they steal a married man’s heart and fool one’s own spouse to satisfy a fleshy craving.
Yet some other characters also would “lay down their lives” just to attain justice for themselves or the oppressed. Others would feel like they would pass on just to wish for an ex-hubby or wifey to come back and resume what they have left off in their marriage.
And there are others who incessantly feel like dying just to exact revenge on the people who have abused or oppressed them.
These are all familiar, captivating characters, portrayed by the most outstanding actors, that we see every day in our Kapamilya teleseryes.
In this gallery, we see such characters in Marga (Andrea Brillantes) of Kadenang Ginto who wishes the love and attention of her parents Daniela (Dimples Romana) and Carlos (Adrian Alandy) more than anything.
Also, we see that yearning in Playhouse with Zeke (Donny Pangilinan) “dying inside” just to have his crush Shiela (Kisses Delavin) notice him, and a righteous yet heartbroken Patty (Angelica Panganiban) feeling so dead inside without her husband Marlon (Zanjoe Marudo).
Who could miss out on Marissa (Niňa Dolino), who is dead-focused on even urging her “sissy” Jade (Yam Concepcion) to simply do the wrong thing in Halik—being dead-set on seducing the married man Ace (Sam Milby) while cheating on her own husband Lino (Jericho Rosales).
We see the same wrongful deeds on Precious Hearts Romances Presents: Los Bastardos, wherein Alba (Roxanne Barcelo) becomes even more despicable when she not only seduced Roman (Geoff Eigenmann), a man who is also taken, but likewise murdering his wife Soledad (Cristine Reyes).
We are also gripped by the way Stella (Alice Dixson) always goes for the killing in seeking vengeance on Ngayon at Kailanman.
On the other hand, we see a life-giving crusade in Cardo (Coco Martin) on FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano to achieve justice for the oppressed and bring the same to those who commit the worst crimes possible.
These are just some of those riveting depictions we all can relate to in their “deadly” search for the prized possession they seek.
