We, Pinoy viewers, find joy in witnessing stunning weddings on teleseryes as they transport us into a world of love and visual spectacle. Thus, over the years, numerous Kapamilya series have featured wedding scenes that are meticulously crafted from choice of venue to bridal wear, decor and styling, and down to the smallest element.
One of the most common motifs in teleserye weddings is classic-romantic – think of intricate interior, subtle colors, and traditional details that exude charming opulence.
Trends come and go but the classic-romantic theme is forever (just like the love shared by these couples). So, let us look back on the most memorable weddings in Kapamilya teleseryes that went for this timeless route.
Be Careful With My Heart
While there’s no single template for a classic Filipino wedding, most Filipino weddings follow traditional customs such as “pamamanhikan” and forbidding the groom to see his future wife pre-ceremony, which we saw Sir Chief (Richard Yap) and Maya (Jodi Sta. Maria) practiced in their matrimony.
From these first steps, the couple also had prenup pictorial and counselling sessions – as if we’re seeing a real wedding come to life.
Their love story was a fairytale in itself but their wedding was even more dreamy – and grand. With blue (Maya’s favorite color) and yellow (symbolizes her favorite flower, the sunflower) as motifs, the romantic nuptial was documented in a same-day edit video and aired throughout the whole episode of “Be Careful With My Heart,” and was followed by a full-blown reception in an events place attended by ABS-CBN Executives.
Walang Hanggan
Daniel (Coco Martin) and Katerina (Julia Montes)’s wedding in “Walang Hanggan” speak of eternity. The first and more common way to go for a classic wedding venue is to choose an old church and bring in ageless music. Daniela and Katerina’s nuptial was held at the San Agustin Church in Intramuros, graced by the ABS-CBN Philharmonic Orchestra for the live orchestral music. And instead of the typical bridal car, the couple was seen riding a horse-drawn carriage. In the entourage are Coco and Julia’s co-stars Richard Gomez, Dawn Zulueta, Helen Gamboa, and Paulo Avelino.
Juan dela Cruz
From the white floral arrangements that lined the aisle to the muted colors worn by the entourage, Juan (Coco Martin) and Rosario (Erich Gonzales)’s wedding in “Juan dela Cruz” followed the aesthetic requirements of a classic Filipino theme. Outside the church, a festive atmosphere could be felt, with a grand feast featuring local cuisine and vibrant ‘banderitas’ all over – it doesn’t get any more Pinoy than this. Plus, the fairies with whom Juan became friends were invited, adding enchanting charm to the event.
Pangako Sa’Yo
Two words come to mind when we think of Amor (Jodi Sta. Maria) and Eduardo (Ian Veneracion)’s wedding in “Pangako Sa’Yo” – blush and fresh. Amor gracefully walked down the aisle amidst a setting adorned with a delightful pink and white motif, symbolizing purity and tenderness as she met her first and great love at the altar. In Eduardo’s wedding vow, he mused on how the past years, although spent apart, shaped them into better people worthy of each other’s love.
Dolce Amore
Dolce Amore’s Tenten (Enrique Gil) and Serena (Liza Soberano) embarked on their journey to happily ever after with looks that gave off that vintage feel. He exuded charm in a customized Barong Tagalog while she was the epitome of unfading beauty in an elegant lace gown. What made it more memorable was the surprise appearance of Ian Veneracion as the officiating priest.
The Greatest Love
Beyond the accents that reflect the traditional Filipino value of simplicity, Gloria (Sylvia Sanchez) and Peter (Nonie Buencamino)’s wedding ceremony in “The Greatest Love” glowed with timeless feel because of their love story. And who else adored Joshua Garcia as the couple’s ring and Bible bearer?
A Love To Last
Andeng (Bea Alonzo)’s special day was adorned with an abundance of roses in white, pink, and pastel hues. She looked breathtaking in a gown embellished with lace and crystal details while Anton (Ian Veneracion) looked sharp in a white suit. And as Andeng walked towards ‘forever,’ in a slow version of romantic hit “A Love to Last,”Anton couldn’t contain his emotions, tearing up as he envisioned their future together.
FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano
It’s the small details in the ceremony, plus Cardo (Coco Martin) and Alyana (Yassi Pressman)’s love story that came together to make their Filipiniana wedding in “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano” in a glass dome truly beautiful. Evoking a vintage yet fresh aura, Alyana descended from a grand staircase, wearing a custom-made beaded and floral-embroidered gown. Adding stunning grace to her appearance was her choice of a delicate lace veil, which reflects Filipinas’ trait of being demure and feminine.
