FAN GIRL
Everyone’s talking about Antoinette Jadaone’s ‘Fan Girl’—and for good reason! The coming-of-age story revolves around Jane (Charlie Dizon), a 16-year-old high school student obsessed over Paulo Avelino (Paulo Avelino). After a mall show where Paulo and Bea Alonzo promoted their latest film, Jane heedlessly hopped on her idol’s pickup truck. Little did she know, it would lead her to a remote barrio, where she ultimately discovered the other side of Avelino.
Gritty and fearless, the film not only graced fans with Dizon and Avelino’s phenomenal acting chops. More importantly, it served as a platform to expose misogyny—earning the nods of industry experts. Just recently, ‘Fan Girl’ was hailed as the top winning film at MMFF’s Gabi ng Parangal, bagging eight awards: Best Picture, Best Director - Antoinette Jadaone, Best Actress - Charlie Dizon, Best Actor - Paulo Avelino, Best Screenplay, Best Cinematography - Neil Daza, Best Sound - Vincent Villa, and Best Editing - Benjamin Tolentino.
